lesser multiple projectile question

I've got a question about a shadow caster. I've tried posting in the shadow forums but nobody seems to answer me, or answer me in global chat either. As a caster, grabbing int, spell damage and crit nodes, I have very low dex, which makes me enable to use LMP. Should I be grabbing those big +30 dex gems so I'm able to use LMP or is it not worth it?

LMP is a very powerful support gem and probably one of the most commonly used ones. If you're using a projectile attack for your main skill then yes definitely get the dex to be able to use LMP. Of course you don't necessarily have to continue to level up the gem if you don't want to continue investing in dex.

The exception is Ethereal Knives which already has a whole bunch of projectiles.

As stated above you if you dont have the Dex you can leave it at its base level for the time being.
Only real options like you stated is to grab some of the larger dex nodes, or you could get your hands on the unique amulet that increases all stats by ~100%, or an onyx amulet, or simply the pure dex amulet.

Well starting as a shadow, I don't have enough dex to even use it at level 1, so I guess I can go for a large dex node or 2. I just wanted to know if it was worth it going for it in the tree

If you want LMP then you're probably also going to want other dex-based support gems like pierce, fork, or chain as well.
