Strongbox (Lamebox?) - Guarded by a Steam of Monsters ( * yawn * )

You'd seen it. You kill the strong box monsters, yawn, stretch, and then kill the extra couple stragglers who had to go pee first before joining the big boy fight.

You can keep this mod. But add one that's actually got a heavier, interesting impact, also.


Example:

Guarded by 2-5 waves of 2-15 monsters per wave, with 6-11 seconds between waves


There are 3 separate ideas there, that you could have the number of waves, or the number of monster, or the number of seconds between waves be a roll. And RNG, it would be from light to heavy depending on rolls. I'd pick 2 of those concepts, if you want the description to fit.


Or, do anything. But do something. Seriously.

If a bunch of stuff is about to spawn, you should give a little warning so that players have something to react to. Like a little circle that can flash or etc.

But, why not do this for all strong box created monsters, you'd be able to then give clients 1-3 seconds to pre-load the graphical resources before crapping on there PC. (I use an SSD, but I hear many have problems with these.)

I could get behind both of these ideas. Streams affix is pretty boring and the waves with some kind of visual warning would be a great improvement.

Here's an idea:

You open strongbox and immediately you hear a deep voice: "ooh, shiny!" and then VERY slow, VERY heavy, but increasingly faster steps start coming your way (you don't know where from ^^) and it turns out to be a huge mbamf ogre/minotaur/etc.

If you can kill it, you get even better loot than what the strongbox offers.
However, he should be really risky to fight - random mods and about three abilities among:
- leap slam
- huge weapon throw followed by charge attack to pick weapon up
- hook
- cyclone
- lightning strike
- glacial hammer
- Spectral Throw
- frenzy

These attacks would be modified by some random mods like multiple projectiles, faster projectiles, increased aoe, faster attacks, etc

Most people should just rightfully shit themselves and portal out.
