Orb of Cleansing, Curse implicts, & Vaal orb Corruption
Orb of Cleansing / Purity
The title says it all. What if there was a 2 ex rarity (closer to an eternal) orb that can remove the corruption status from a corrupted item, and that can also remove a new cursed implicit from items. Cursed Implicit The new Cursed Implicit would have a pool of affixes where essentially none of them are desirable, but perhaps some can be lived with. However, Items that roll as cursed might have a slightly higher chance to also roll some of the more rare and desirable affix lines, or perhaps +1 tier to several affixes rolled on the item, or maybe even a couple special affixes that can only roll on a cursed item. Any way about it, you'd want to use a pretty expensive orb to purify these items if one rolls well, or else deal with the negative curse implicit. Summing it up This orb would need to be rare and expensive, as the Corruption status removal is a big deal. However, the additional Cursed Implicit concept also further brings this orb usage into demand. Balance would be in rarity and usage lowering supply, and demand upping price. The less over powered this orb is, the more common it could be, and the more crazy it is, the more rare it would need be. This should limit Vaal Orb / Cleansing spam to a reasonable level. Balance After Thought I was thinking about Vaal Orb Corruption re-rolls into 6L, and now would add that this orb could have only a % chance to remove Vaal Orb Corruption, such as 50% or less. This plus rarity should help close this and other concerns. Last edited by DragonsProphecy#4593 on Jan 29, 2015, 9:51:21 AM

The cleansing orb would remove the cursed implicit if the item is cursed. Restoring the default implicit if the base item has one.
The cleansing orb might only remove the corruption status of a corrupted item, and leave the implicit alone, or it might remove both. This could go either way. One of the crazier areas to tackle would be Vaal Orb 6L from item re-roll. If the item re-rolls, there is a 1 in 36 chance the item will be fully linked and fully socketed. Assuming the re-roll chance is 1 in 7, that's a 1 in 252 chance of a 6L. This means that even if vaal orbs are 1 chaos, it would cost 252 chaos (or say 6.8 exalts) to achieve a 6L from vaal orbing singe items directly. And 6.8 exalt + 2 exalt = 8 exalt is potentially too cheap for achieving a 6L. This might mean that we need to jack up the price. Or, only give the Cleansing Orb a 25%-50% chance of removing Corruption (or similarly make it more rare and expensive to find the orb in the first place.) At 25%, and at 2 exalt per cleaning orb, and other numbers, we'd be at 6.8 + (2 x 4) = 14.8 exalt. Now heading into more acceptable territory, even if it was say 50% - because who says the base item is special other than being 6L? I'm suggesting that a good 6L in a challenge league should be between 10-40 exalts, and a bad one could be far less, so I think we're starting to be hitting desirable balance considerations, even if vaal orbs are cheaper, or if you are vaal orbing whole strong boxes. So, some balance, such as giving it only a 25-50% chance to remove corruption, and adjusting rarity, I think, can handle all these types of balance concepts. It would likely have 75-100% chance to remove curses, and we'd treat this corruption then as deeper and darker than the curse. Last edited by DragonsProphecy#4593 on Jan 29, 2015, 9:56:41 AM

Wouldn't this remove the point of corruption?

" This sums up the first part of the suggestion greatly. No point in vaal orbs making items unmodifiable if you can change that back into an item that can be modified. |

they should make eternal orb work on corrupted item <3

" It would work when the cleansing would reset the new implicit of something corrupted and also reroll all sockets (even on 6l whats normally not possible). This way when you corrupt a 6l Shavrones and get no mod out of it, you may purify it but get also rerolled socket (like 3s, so total scrap for an chest armor). Also if you try to purify a ripped unique that became a rare after vaaling, after purifying you only have a rare with the skin of a unique, only uncorrupted. For the cursed implicit i think an extra orb of cursing would be nice. Also maybe a combined implicit mod like "+ 100 % more mana regen + no life regen", or mods that may be quit strong like "all gems in this item have blood magic" |

I'm on the fence about the Purify Orb one. What is the point of corrupting if you can undo it?
But then again, they allowed us to change the socket colour of corrupted items. Only way I see that working, is that it has a HIGH chance of RIPing the item. Uniques would have a high chance of becoming rares with rerolled sockets/links. Rare items would have a HIGH chance of going white and rerolling sockets/links. Or even, have it GUARANTEED that the item becomes 1 socket, and half a not as high chance of RIPing the item completely. That way you have to spend a crap ton of jewellers and fusings to make a chest armor a 6l again. My point is, corruption shouldn't be taken lightly. It should be that you have a bunch of Vaal Orbs sitting in your stash because you are too scared to corrupt your expensive items. |
