Question about Oro's Sacrifice

Ok so I know Oro's only does fire damage but I am curious as to if I can get away with taking phys damage node and utilize avatar of fire for the build I would like to do or if that still doesn't work?
I cannot find a straight answer on other posts so I needed to ask for myself. Can I use Oro's with Molten strik and Phys nodes if I take Avatar of Fire or do I still need to take Ele / fire nodes. |

It doesn't work. AoF converts 50% of other damage to fire damage. But you only deal fire damage with oros, there is no phys damage from which phys damage nodes could scale off.

It is a terrible weapon, and incredibly hard to scale it's damage well. You are talking insane amounts of fire damage elemental damage etc. Main problem is support gems all inc physcal damage in some way, as well as auras etc. If you ran things like wrath and anger and the heralds you would be better off with a fast one handed weapon with ele damage. I tried utilizing it with a build where I had only elemental nodes, and even with a much lesser dps phys weapon, the phys weapon had 3 times the damage, no matter how I tried to work it. luckily I got oro's for 1 fuse, so not much of a loss.

Oro's sword doesn't scale with physical damage but with the new tree it doesn't need to as there is plenty of elemental, generic melee (not just physical) and fire nodes in the tree.
"support gems all inc physical damage in some way" Now that is blatantly untrue I run melee splash, multistrike, weapon elemental damage and fire pen supports and there is also faster attacks and melee damage on full life as options. In fact the only support gem that is removed is melee physical damage while you gain access to weapon elemental damage and fire penetration gems both of which have higher damage scaling. Not to argue that the sword is better then a normal physical weapon. That depends on your build and what you are going for. Its the backbone of my flickerstike build due to the easy frenzy charges though and tears through maps so I'm finding it quite fun https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1182463 |
