Doedre's Tenure's 45% increased spell damage not working?

I'm using lightning strike for my templar. These gloves are supposed to give 45% increased spell damage.



My Lightning Strike DPS is 432 without the gloves on.

After putting these gloves on, my lightning strike DPS is still exactly the same at 432. Shouldn't it be increased by 45%??

Lightning Strike isn't a spell, it's an attack.

Isn't LS a spell which attacks?

What's the difference? What are the spells that the gloves will apply to?

The Spell damage applies if the Skill gem says "Spell"

If that's the case, what then what does the 20% reduced cast speed apply to? Everything or spells only?

Reduced cast speed applies to everything that says 'Cast time' when you hover over it.

Even with a proper spell, your DPS will remain pretty much the same with Doedre's Tenure due to the slower cast speed. It's a mana efficiency effect. I wish these gloves were a higher level, so they could be used without the massive defense sacrifice to help manage mana use, when mana use is actually an issue. Its not an issue low levels due to flasks.
