Crown of Eyes still worth it?

I'm building a "low life" Kinetic Blast wander, and just wondering if it's worth using Crown of Eyes anymore.

I'll definitely have the points to do Pain Attunement and the first 16% spell damage point off the witch start. After that, not sure how many points I'll have left to add more spell damage.

With just the 46% from those 2 points, is Crown of Eyes going to be worth it?

Pain Attunement does nothing for CoE.

I am running a life based CoE wander.

Atm 11k GMP Kinetic Blast in a 5L with it (wand is only 140 pdps), it's nothing extravagant and i think you can get simmilar dps boost with Rats Nest (if not even more).

For reference, i have no spell damage on my amulet or wand (except the implicit 18%) and am using a 59% spell damage shield + 40% spell damage from tree and the dps boost is "ok".

For lowlife it might be better because you get more auras, atm im only running Wrath+Herald of Thunder+Herald of Ash

Crown of Eyes no longer works with 'more' modifiers such as Pain Attunement or Righteous Fire.

In general, it's only worth it if you are getting >100% Spell Damage from gear. At medium gear levels Rat's Nest is typically a better choice as the poster above me says.

So pain attunement doesn't work, but do the regular spell damage nodes on the tree work with it?

Since I'm an ES build, i'll either be using Crown of Eyes or just a regular ES helm like Vertex or a rare.

Yeah I don't have my jewelry or my wand yet, so I have no idea what my damage will be, but I will have more aura's so that might boost it a bit more.

I also have enough life left over to also run Herald of Ash, but it seems that would be the worst of the three Heralds so I may not use it.

Yes any spell damage nodes from the tree or gear will work, just not spell damage 'multipliers' like PA.

Crown of eyes is still best in slot (for dps) IF you have some spell damage on gear, especially your shield.

If your shield and/or other gear doesn't have very much spell damage on it then a Rare ES hubris (more es, res, ect) may be better for you, or perhaps Rats Nest if you need more crit chance.

I'd say, if you can cap your res while using COE and have some spell damage somewhere, use it.

I am curious guys, everyone says that CoE is the best dps helm. Before the nerf, I would have believed that easily. But now, I think abyssus might be just as good if not better for physical/hybrid builds(from a dps perspective-ignore the downside). What do you think? Has anyone tested this?

I try and test this when I get home, hopefully I can hit the 3 off colors in Abysss to even make the switch to test it without blowing too many chroms

I am willing to bet that the damage would be pretty close on either assuming you have T1 spell damage on the gear that can get it, without a bunch of SD I'm sure abyss would be more dps, but with top teir gear I bet the DPS is pretty close to each other

But considering the huge downside to abyss and the great utility COE gives (leech, accuracy) coe is just awesome if you have the right gear.

But I guess you're probably right. CoE gives crazy huge utlity, and if you do have the mirrors for a top tier CoE using melee/spectral throw then CoE would be preferred.
