Does elemental spell damage stack with cold?
|
Quick question,
So I understand that spell damage and cold damage stack in such a way as to make each subsequent addition have diminishing returns. (if we already have +200% spell damage and you add another 25%, you aren't really getting 25% more than what you had before). Basic theorycrafting stuff. How does elemental damage work? Does that stack along with whatever +% cold damage I already have, or is that independant? I'm playing a freezing pulse build and I want to know if going into the Celestial Judgement/Punishment passive tree area is worth it, and that depends on how much I get out of all those elemental damage nodes. Thanks! Last edited by knutty#5602 on Dec 23, 2014, 7:46:13 PM

Is is 'increased' damage or 'more' damage?
'increased' is additive. 'more' is multiplicative. So if you have +50% increased cold damage and +50% increased spell damage, you get a total of +100% increased damage, considering you use a spell that deals cold damage like freeze pulse. Let's assume you also use pain attunment for 30% more spell damage. Your damage will be: (base damage)*(1+0.5+0.5)*1.3 Last edited by Reizoko#4460 on Dec 23, 2014, 7:50:15 PM

Wait so the game adds up all the +spell damage and +cold damage together? Huh I thought I read somewhere that different types of damage addition stack their +% independently....Now I feel stupid because I've been trying to find items that balance each of those to maximize their effect. Yeh I'll probably go down to the Celestial area after I finish my last couple of points towards Doom Cast. Thanks for the advice.
