3 Dragons and the Heralds
How does the 3 dragons mask interact with spells and abilities that have "cannot _____" on them. If you have Herald of Thunder, cannot shock, and you equip 3 Dragons, say you're using incinerate and HoT - will you not be able to shock with the fire damage, or not be able to freeze with the thunder damage? Or neither?

If a skill has a "cannot _____" modifier, then you can't change this, i.e. Flame Surge with Added Cold and Lightning damage and Three Dragons still can't ignite enemies, but freeze (from lightning) and shock (from fire) is possible.
However, Herald of Lightning is refering to it's own damage effect, and not the damage added to other skills. It's the lightning storm caused by HoT after killing a shocked enemy that cannot shock (because that is the part of HoT that actually deals damage), the additional damage part is just a buff on you. |

Flamesurge says it cannot ignite but it doesn't say it can't shock. Imho Flamesurge with 3 Dragons will shock.
As for Incinerate + HoT with 3 dragons, Incinerate shocks on its own (with some % chance to shock from tree). That's the build I used in 1.2, to great success. Ranger builds list: /917964
When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch? If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch. Watching witches watch watches is not for the faint of heart... |

" 100% correct. |

Right, so to be absolutely clear here,
If Herald of Thunder procs while you're wearing the three dragons, the lightning bolts can freeze enemies. |

" Not concerned about the lightning bolt damage. Can the added lightning damage on attacks and spells trigger the shocked status? If so, then 3 Dragons is no longer mandetory for most incinerate builds. " Not relevant, but cool nonetheless. "If you’re incompetent, you can’t know you’re incompetent. " Yes, it can and does. I'm playing an incin build and, with the passives which give you a chance to shock, my incin (with no added lightning dmg except for that added by the Herald of Thunder buff) shocks enemies and causes lightning to rain down spectacularly from the sky. If you don't have the chance to shock passives incin wouldn't normally cause shocks (since it doesn't crit) but other spells or attack which do crit would still shock and hence trigger the lightning storm. This would still occur even with no other lightning dmg other than that added by the Herald. Basically the dmg which it adds to spells and attacks can shock and the lightning bolts can't. The two parts of the buff behave in different ways. Last edited by f4sak3n#2799 on Dec 15, 2014, 6:02:46 PM
