CTRL-v stopped working in the game

It worked as recently as during Rampage I could Control-c copy a name from a trade thread and then Control-v paste it into chat to whisper somebody. I don't know what happened, but the paste part isn't working. I can highlight something typed in the chat window and copy it, and I can paste that outside of the game, but trying to paste it into the chat box does nothing. Any ideas on what happened? I don't think I changed anything.

Can you paste anything in the chat box? It's just the PoE items that aren't showing?

I can't paste anything there. I can link items just fine, it's the paste that doesn't work. The copy part works though...i can copy text I am typing and paste it outside of the game.

I even just tried setting up a keyboard macro for Control-v and it still does nothing in PoE.

Edit: Just learned that Shift + Ins can paste too. Works outside of PoE. Does not work in PoE. I just don't understand why the game seems to ignore the paste command suddenly.

Okay, it works again. One or more of the following things seems to have fixed it:
Packcheck said every was fine
GGPK defrag reduced size by 88 MB
Running PoE as Administrator (don't know how it runs when I just double click it to start).

I was tearing my hair out - trying so hard to type in crazy-long names from my browser to do trades.

It was the GGPK defrag that fixed it for me - Packcheck did nothing.

This has saved me so much frustration! :)

Actually I spoke too soon. The problem still comes and goes. I can't predict what causes it or how to avoid it. I sometimes have to hit keys twice in the beginning to get them to work like activating auras, so I think that might be a contributing factor.

I posted in your bug report but I'll do it here too. I may have found a solution but haven't had the problem since I found it so I couldn't verify if it works. But do you run webroot? It may be the identity protection shield that is blocking the paste. Try turning it off when the problem occurs to see if that fixes it. Let me know if it works. I don't really understand why the problem is intermittent but I hope that it's webroot causing it so we know.

I just tested the webroot idea. It's actually the "Identity Shield" option within the "Identity Protection" tab. As soon as I turn the switch from "on" to "off", I was able to paste. Once I turned it back on, it blocked my ability to paste again. Hope this helps. Not sure if there is a way around it though. Might just have to turn it off when you want to paste in the game.


Oh, and FYI if its intermittent then your webroot is identifying the game as a possible source for Phishing. If you notice; the webroot sometimes has a lock on it, well its securing your personal information in the effort to stopping Phishing. It should be doing this when your on the internet but for some reason webroot is identifying POE as a potential threat to the computers personal data.
