Question regarding Party XP Penalty
Hey guys! :)
I was curious about the XP penalty in parties, so I've gone through the wiki. I know how the normal level penalty works, so I'm not considering that now, only party penalty and it's explained as followed: " Okay, this seems to make sense for me, seems fair. But doing the same calculation now with, let's say 4 people in a party with the levels 95, 96, 97 and 98 would look like this: " Well, this is atleast how I managed to understand it but that makes no sense at all... So, what am I missing? Regards! IGN: Summsumms

"Why? And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

" Well, as I understand it that would mean that a player which joins your party and has the same level as you reduces your XP gain by 50%. So, solo you would gain 100% XP and if you map with someone at your level, you would just gain 50%. With a third player at the same level, you would now just gain 33% XP. Doing 6man parties would lower the XP gain of everyone immensly. And that is - from my experience - obviously not true at all. There is some penalty but never 50% with only 1 player at your level. So, I must have missunderstood something or the calculation method is wrong. Regards IGN: Summsumms

" "the XP" = monster xp (that you would receive at solo play) * number of players Someone might correct me if I'm wrong but "the XP" is definitely not just the xp in solo play. Last edited by Sa_Re#3411 on Nov 22, 2014, 8:47:36 AM

" I also imagined so, while thinking about a reasonable solution for this... Doing as you said would perfectly fit for two charaters at exactly the same level, as "the XP" result would exactly be 50% and multiplied by amount of player (2) it would be 100%, which would make sense when both are at the same level. Well, doing so with for example a level 10 and a level 30 player would mean, the level 10 player would receive 13.2%*2=26.4% which is still imaginable, but the level 30 player would gain 86.7%*2=173.4% XP. So, that is also not a possible solution. So - as I understand it - you are right about the fact that "the XP" is the percentage of the XP you would gain when playing solo. But it can not be multiplied by the number of party players, else it would overwight the XP from soloplay by far in some cases. But also my example calculation can not be true, else someone playing in a 4-man-party with people with about the same level would just gain 25% of the XP he would gain when playing solo. This is simply not what I experienced. Well and there the problems keeps beeing the same problem.. IGN: Summsumms Last edited by chescos#6757 on Nov 22, 2014, 9:41:40 AM

" good point, was thinking the same. Havent seen this confirmed or discussed but I can imagine the XP being capped at 100% of "solo play" XP IGN: Eric_Lindros CET: Timezone Last edited by Ludvator#6587 on Nov 22, 2014, 10:20:11 AM

"Well, you know, monsters' hp(and damage iirc) are also increased in party mode, so i see nothing strange in it. And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
