You think Bandit/Portal pk is bad?(Hear my story)

First of all I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a young person in my twentys with some moderate to minor mental illness. I was even a Special Olympics athlete until it was deem just too much for me.


The only people I really have conversations with are people online. What I'm about to tell you is about one person Ive met online who means the whole world to me. Ive met her on another game, a mmo.

I have heard of Path of Exile for a long time but never intended to play it was her that changed my mind at the end to join the POE community for OBT. She changed my view on many things, and even made decisions for my life. Just so you know this whole time I western union money her money every week(She says it's for college) even I'm on disability and have only small amount of money to spend.


Today everything changed... I was going to buy her some more microtransaction items in the shop which I have already done so a few times. I got her the pets, the skill animations, and today I was going to get her some of the account features like extra space but when I tried to log on her account(we've been sharing our accounts)

I couldn't log on, so I managed to get a hold of her on skype I asked what's going on? She said he's really a man living in Cape Town... I was in denial and I didn't want to believe it my mind was racing it was too much at once. Then he said listen and turned on his webcam for the first time. he started telling me everything from the beginning, like how we met(on maplestory) and how we made a pact that one day if one of us have a terminal illness, on our dying bed our last request would be to watch a re-run of pokemon, and that the other should continue watching pokemon so the afterlife the one went first can know what happened.


I am not making any of this up... I was so in shocked I couldn't even come on this forum as much I usually do.

I nearly pissed myself.

Anyone else seeing the irony in this? An elaborate story telling us that you can't trust people on the internet...

DxL, I don't think you should have posted this here. The forums are going through a bit of transitional turmoil now that has emotions running hot, and uncaring people are going to be just like Rjkd12 and only skim your post and comment on the parts that interest them, regardless of how it helps or hurts you. I understand your need to vent, but there's probably too much hostile audience here. Talking to someone in real life who cares about you would be better; if you don't have someone like that for you, seek counseling.

I appreciate your candor about your mental illness, but if the PoE forums are a place to dissociate from reality, you might want to give foruming a break until you get you get a handle on the trauma from this event.

Lastly, not trying to get on your case or anything, but... be a little smarter next time. Don't trust strangers that blindly; I'm not saying to shut everyone off, but verifying their claims is a wise move.

Or legit enough. You're allowed to blur the edges slightly if you claim mental illness. It'd be like calling Jack a liar because Tyler Durden doesn't really exist.
