Lvl 70 but can't progress much more. Any advice ?
|
Hi community,
I recently started to play and I am now Templar 70. Basically, I have a hard time going into higher difficulty content because I can't find the equipment that would allow me to do so. I am currently farming Merciless Act 3 and few bosses in other acts. Xp goes fine and I can still level-up quickly. But despite having +90% item rarity (pretty much all I found), there is no item worth to equip. As far as I know, the required items to do harder content need to maintain my resist cap while providing more life/mana/regen. I am not much concerned by dps stats right now, I just want to improve my survivability and for that I will need more life or mana/mana regen for higher level artic armour. Even while running lvl 65 areas, I still find some lvl 36 required yellow items with crappy stats. Most of the strong boxes gives me a bunch of useless white items. I took a look at crafting but I am far from being rich enough (in orbs) to do that. As i didn't change any piece of equipment since I entered act 3 at level 60, I am wondering if I am not missing something. I am of course ready to farm as long as there is progressive rewards to encourage me. Any advice on what I should ? what feature of the game am I missing in order to improve my equipment ? Thank you |

What build are you running? which items? A few upgrades might improve farm speed.

" Ok thank you, I will definitely look there. However it looks like I might not be able to afford much here as I don't have any exalted orb and one hand is enough to count the number of chaos orbs. I guess I have to farm until I find enough exalted orbs to pay for that. It is quite shame that have to go out of the game to make progress in game, I enjoy much more the game if I find my own items rather than buying them. " I am running double searing totem. I have IR, EB and EE. I don't feel my farming speed is too slow, mob are just dying instantly and I keep on running (at least if I don't go over level 68 areas). All my items, except for my weapon are focused on resists/life/mana/mana regen, but the values are low. I am missing life and mana as well as more sockets in my items, I don't have any 3L+ Ideally, I think I need items with 30+ in 2 resists, 60+ in life/mana and some 3L 4L in order to improve my skills with support gems. I never found any yellow matching this so far. I can add that I am also running low level Maps 66-68. Last edited by Anakin5#0865 on Oct 4, 2014, 3:08:09 PM

I suggest you link a build and gear. Just click on your characters image above.
You could take a look at the fusing and jeweller market. They can be found, they can be bought in act II and III, they can be bought most favourable from lvl VI Vorici and Elreon. You can use them and they can be sold in trade chat for key pieces of gear and exalts. And you might start spending jewellers and fusings on your best 4-linkable item. Link a flametotem + culling strike + item rarity + item quantity and start farming Piety, if possible. Lastly, value movespeed, which translates to clearspeed, which translates into de facto item quantity. |

my wild guess is that you have low HP and/or resists
as other posters said, linking your gear and tree would make us to tell you exactly what the problems are IGN: Eric_Lindros

" If 30+ Dual Res, 4Link and some Life is your only concern i´ll bet you can find some gear for 1C or less per Slot. If you can´t find it just message me ingame i´m sure i have some of those for cheap... consider that searing totem is mostly a leveling build as it doesnt scale enough in the lategame.
you might want to swap to another build once you hit 75 or so Dogs Summoner - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/885199

This is how I upgrade my gear as a solo non trader. It's slow and doesn't always work, but if you don't have a lot of currency and don't mind grinding it might help. You just have to keep rolling the dice until you get lucky.

If you are not already doing it, you should definitely use the Chaos Vendor Recipe since most of your chaos orbs will come from that source. What you do is basically farming any lvl 60+ area and collect rare items until you have a full set of these, then sell the set to any vendor for 1-3 chaos orbs. Note that the levelk requirement of an item is not the same as the itemlevel. For this recipe only the latter matters which means that any rare that dropped from a lvl 60+ mob will work regardless of the level it has required to equip. A full set includes:
- helmet - amulett - chest piece - gloves - 2x rings - belt - boots - 1h weapon + shield, 2x 1h weapons, 2h weapon or bow (no quiver needed) The bottleneck for the sets are usually amuletts and rings so you can usually sell/vendor all other pieces and just start collecting them as soon as you have the two rings + amulett for a set. This won't make you rich but will provide plenty chaos orbs to get some decent gear from poe.trade. For a full list of vendor recipies have a look at the poe wiki page. Once you have decent gear going, you should consider to start mapping, level 70 is well high enough for 66-69 maps. 11.02.2013 - 11.02.2017: four year PoE anniversary!
