what's the best way to farm levels of gems?

i'm wondering if the required level to equip a gem is also the lvl of the mobs where i should lvl it.

like: lvl 2 empower gem requires lvl 10 to use...
does it mean that the best exp. comes from mobs lvl 10 ?

or: lv 16 vitality gem requeres lvl 60 to use...
does it mean that the best exp comes from lvl 60 mobs ?

i need some more tips on leveling gems.

The last I heard gems receive the same experience that you get from mobs, but they do not get hit with the penalty for being over level in an area.

So the best way would be to farm the highest content that you can run at a fast pace. I tend to just crush maps when I want to level gems...

Best way: Have fun. Don't die. Eventually, you'll get levels.

Gems gain exp at 10% of the rate a player would but without level penalties.
Things like the uniques that give additional exp helps. In the case of empower/enlighten/enhance a weapon with Haku's mod will also help.

Other than that it is just doing the highest level zone you have easy access to while still being able to kill quickly.

Best ways of leveling gems in this order:

Untainted paradise 1000% XP.. best map in the game for everything.

Poorjoy's asylum 150% increased XP.

Alluring abyss/apex of sacrifice: Huge magic and rare enemy density. Gives amazing gem XP.

Coward's trial: Gives around 3 million XP for a quick maprun compared to the typical 1 million XP or so maps.

Doing maps in 3-6 minutes like gorge, strand, jungle valley. Do note that XP between high maps has a very small difference. I calculated a 78 map giving 1.3 million XP on average while 66 maps can give 800k-1 million XP so it's not a huge difference. Just run what is fastest for your character.

takes forever to lvl gems. im 85 and still dont have a 20. if you dont die takes till lvl 88. lvl 94 for 20-20 gems and six characters to lvl 86 to make empower 3.

i had a 20q empower last season. took me 5 months, three toon zero to high 80s, to make lvl 3.

Atziri's Disfavour + Enlighten level 4 + 5 gems to level is the best way to level them.

There is no EXP penalty for gems. You gain more EXP from higher monsters, regardless of gem level.

the problem is that a 6 link Atziri's Disfavour is over 85ex =(
