With the game in it's current state, I really don't see how mounts could help.
They worked great in Sacred 2, but that was because the game world was huge. With the zoning in PoE, I don't think there'd be such a use for them. |

There are a few threads about mounts, and the majority consensus is that it would be a bad idea.

The addition of mounts would seem entirely out of place and would most likely detract from the moody atmosphere of the game.

aside from all this mount-stuff i want to remind you that the topic is about hidden passages in the end.
i am all for them but i doubt they would be possible because they wouldnt be "hidden". there are imho 3 ways of "secret" passages: 1. if passages are hidden by crumbled walls or some visual indicators exist like exploding barrels near them to blast them open, rubble or some stuff like that would mean that they in fact are always "visible". even if they would not glow at a mouseover- ass soon as it is known how such passages look like they arent hidden anymore. 2. if you make them really invisible and use some buyable or rather dropable (potion to see small gusts of wind coming through a passage and the cracks of a otherwise normal looking wall) to make them visible it would be okay but rather pointless i suppose? just another item to pack and use from time to time... high rarity on the other hand would make such a potion valuable and such passages still seem "secret". might be the best choice in case of secret passages? 3. if you make them absolutely invisible AND undetectable and only a lucky click reveals those passages it becomes instantly stupid. invis and undetectable should imho be avoided. p.s. i would love a dungeon basically made completely of hidden doors, traps and small riddles- like indiana jones or a "reverse dungeon keeper-dungeon" aka "dungeon" ;) |

The first time I discovered a "secret passage" in Diablo 2 (in the Catacombs in Act 1) I though it was awesome cool! but the only way to detect them was to "see" something on screen that you couldn't reach, and Blizzard apparently never used them again in D2 (of which I'm aware).
I can't see how GGG can add hidden passages to PoE in any significant way which won't be a one-hit. Very rare random hidden door spawns might be more effective, but then you might never find one, except by accident, of the kind of deductive exploration which takes time and attention many players may not be interested in devoting to the game. If GGG makes it work, I dun see secret passages as a bad thing, but I doubt anyone will miss 'em, either. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/
