Is Cast When Damage is Taken supposed to get worse as you level?
i'm really confused about this support gem-- the more you level it, the higher the damage taken threshold gets. Wouldn't you want it to decrease, so you can cast more often? If not, which skills work well with it?

Yes, you want to keep it at a low level. 1, 5, 7 are common setups I see, depending on build and preference. Often used combos are with Enduring Cry, Immortal Call, Molten Shell, Devouring Totem, and some others. You can have multiple setups in different gear pieces as long as CwDT is at a different level. It used to work differently, but was nerfed last year.

should note that the higher the cwdt level, the higher level skills you can use with it.

You'll often see people use two CWDT... one at 1/20 and one at 20/20. The 1/20 is for things like enduring cry 3/20 or a curse or something where the level of the effect doesn't matter too much. The 20/20 is linked to stuff where level of the skill makes all the difference.

Youre doing it wrong: The higher damage it needs the further you are in the game, so it all scales really well, and you can lvl up any gem attached to it as far as you want unlike what most people think they dont have to because they only use buffs. I always lvl up my cwdt, i also use it with gems like molten shell and ice nova and such. Next time i put one on a char i try arc. :)

" A bit offtopic, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work anymore with Devouring Totem. I tried it yesterday, but the skill didn't get greyed out and I could cast it manually while it was in the link with CWDT. I guess it must've been announced in some patch notes :D Such is the vastness of his genius, that he can outwit even himself.

Common misunderstanding. You get more damage. You take more damage from sources later on. CWDT counts damage from all sources, not just one. Thats why i lvl all my CWDT on principle and the cast later on as they do early on. All people do is lvl it to cast for 1 hit from 1 mob instead of 2 or 3 for some damage.

I think that they should nerf it a little more.. like 75% chance to proc @level20.

If you look how powerful immortal call and enduring cry gets when leveled up you will understand. Would be imba as hell to get perma on them with super low damage taken.
