4% Increase spell damage 19% Reduced Cast speed Strengths's Damage bonus applies to spell damage as well for support skills Is this gem supposed to make you cast faster or slower? It sounds like it's reducing the casting animation but infact it actually slows down my cast speed lowering my dps drasticly I have a video if a dev wants to see it. It reduces the speed with which you cast.
If you reduce speed on the highway, does it take more or less time to get to your destination? :) (car analogies are always applicable) |

Slower.
Speed is being reduced; think about your car going at a speed of 100 kph, if you reduce speed by 20 youre going at 80 kph. B. It reduces cast speed - that means it makes you cast slower.
This is because it needs a drawback for the massive bonus it can give to damage. | |

Just how high is the strength bonus? Is it the 5 strength = 1% bonus physical damage? And that's then applied to spells - so 100 strength = 20% bonus spell damage?
What if I put it on a minion gem? Does the minion gain the spell damage of me, or does it have its own strength value? This would affect minion instability, if it worked. IRON MAN

Nope, it wouldn't affect Minion Instability, because that explosion is no spell. So Iron Will with minions, maybe it has an effect on Raise Spectre with a spell casting monster, but otherwise no bonus.
The increase of spell damage works as you wrote, 100 strength = 20% spell damage. The reduce of cast speed will get less on higher levels of the gem, so it's quite a nice support gem if you want to boost damage without a heavy cost-multiplier. |
