Why is the inventory so bad?
|
This game is so great so far, but why on earth would they ruin a great thing by bringing back what people hated most in Diablo 2: they sh*tty way the inventory works. I don't want 20% of my inventory taken up by one item. Any word from devs on this?

" intended, and not likely to be changed its like this for a varity of reasons, end game maps, is one.. the design intent isnt for the player to pick up every item they see, only good things, or things that you might want to use orbs on. Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...

I like the current inventory system. Bulkier items take up more of your backpack space, and the fact that your backpack is only 5 rows makes you question if you really want to pick up that 3-4 slot tall item just to vendor it.

So another Player who doesn't like to actually having to care about inventory management.

I agree the inventory system sucks, I know people say it makes you think about what to pick up, but still it's not that great of a system. The only items I pick up are rares and decent socketed whites.

Thanks for the info. That's a shame. When I'm running around with other plays I often don't have time to sort through everything that's dropping. I'd like to take my time to see the items but I guess they'll just have to rot

There's nothing preventing you from taking time to look at drops. When I play with friends we usually spend a minute after a boss looking at what's dropped. This simply isn't a game where you literally pick up and vendor every trash item like torchlight.

I think it's also important to point out that inventory structure goes a long way to generating income for POE as well. Buying extra bag space or stash space is a great motivator for those collectors out there. As for bag space while out farming, this will become less of an issue as you realize more and more what's actually valuable on the ground.

" I personally am happy with being forced to make tough choices, which in fact are NOT very tough. Tough Choice: Pop a portal, vendor gear, store gear, return and pick up desired loot. "Oh so hard!!" Tough Choice: Identify it, realize it sucks and drop it. "Mind = Blown" I personally dont want to be able to carry everything in the world. |
