Dual wield alternating swings + Multistrike mechanics question

Hi,

Just a question, as we know, dual wielding swings your weapons alternatively with most skills. When you add Multistrike, which count as 1 attack for some things, is the pattern like:

Main hand, off hand, main hand, repeat (because MS swings 3 times per attack)

Or:

Main hand, off hand, main hand, off hand, etc.

Thanks for any help. I'd test it myself but I can't draw any conclusive answers cause the attack is too fast.
I know this has been answered before, but I just can't find the info.

have you looked in the old mechanics thread? Or in multistrike feedback thread?

I glanced through the FAQ here and mechanics page on the wiki but couldn't find the info there.
The feedback page is rather large, so I was hoping someone knew the answer.
Pop it in and watch the animation. Problem solved :P

I remember when multistrike was first released they answered the question... Try looking in the old mechanics thread (not the wiki)

It may take some time to sift through all that though, maybe a dev can confirm one way or another and someone will update the wiki

Just in case anyone was interested in the answer, it does follow the pattern left-right-left, left-right-left, etc. So the weapon on the left side of the screen in your inventory gets swung twice as often as the right one.

The reason this matters is because I'm using a Mjolner with Ungil's Gauche in my offhand for the stat bonuses.

In the span of 6 hits, with Mjolner in the main hand you get 4 hits with Mjolner, 2 with Ungil's. So this is a very significant damage difference, as when you put the Mjolner in the offhand, your damage output is basically halved.

And this solution pleases me, if it had been left-right-left-right, the damage would be worse again: 3 hits with each weapon, so 25% less damage.

So it's actually not as disadvantageous to use a non-Mjolner weapon as your offhand when you want to dual wield using the item as many people assume, since "your non-Mjolner hits don't proc any spells, so it lowers your damage!".
But people forget that the speed on Gavels is terrible so dual wielding them would still give you a really poor total attacks per second.

Question: What attack are you using?
