40% Total Quality Does Not Yield a Glassblower's Bauble (sometimes)
|
In the screenshot I have flasks with quality totaling to 80%, but I'm only offered 1 glassblower and scraps.
The quality percentages of the flasks are: 14+14+11+11+11+8+6+5 = 80 Sometimes this also happens for whetstones and armourer's scraps, but I should report them in their own threads. The countless times I mistook my MTX pet for prey... huehehehe

I'm pretty sure it goes like this:
For you to get two baubles at once with a total of exactly 80%, it needs to be with two groups of flasks that are both exactly 40%. Let's say you put a group of 14+14+8+5 flasks in the window, which is 41%. These four flasks are now bound to the recipe and essentially "consumed". This means that the one percent that goes over 40% cannot be used towards the next bauble recipe, even if you put all of the flasks in the window at once. Yep, you are putting in items that give you one above 40% and one below 40%. You word it correctly that it's a recipe of one bauble for 40% quality. But what you are trying to do is make it a recipe of two baubles for 80%.

Yes, you guys are right.
I tried it again with easier numbers to crunch 15+15+15+15+13+7 = 80 and I still get only 1 glassblower and scraps. With the numbers above it is impossible to make two groups of exactly 40 quality. I've actually done it before where I total up 80% even 120% quality of flasks, quality weapons, or quality armor pieces and I do receive 2 or 3 orbs back respectively. I guess those many times I was lucky enough to get the right set of quality percentages for each group of 40% quality. Still, I wish the devs would change this recipe mechanic to make it so that any extra quality would carry over for the next 40% group, instead of being wasted. Once again I wish GGG would implement a reply notification feature, but that's for another thread (that probably already exists). Thanks for clarifying this for me.
