Question about Regal orb vendor recipe, strategy for obtaining
Trying to read up on the crafting system in preparation for the OB. Had a few questions, would be great if someone could help out.
The recipe for 2x Regal orb requires unidentified rares(helm/armor/weapon/boots/gloves) with 20% quality. I plan to save undentified rares when I level since they can be used to get chaos orbs pretty easily( just one full set of rares of any quality). What I wonder is if it is worth it to use armourer's scrap and whetstones to upgrade unidentified rares in order to meet the requirement for regal orbs? I have only had the game for a couple of days so unsure how the value and economy looks. Roughly how many scraps and whetstones can be spent before it becomes greater then the cost of 2 regal orbs? I am asuming that to make it viable economy wise only rares with already very high % quality is material worth spending scrap/whetstones to upgrade in order to meet the recipe requirement? Perhaps very hard questions to answer but figured it was worth a shot to ask. Last edited by Eivon#4461 on Jan 15, 2013, 12:33:46 PM

It can be worth it. However it is time consuming, basicaly it depends on how many trips to town with loot u are prepared to do.
If u are usig the quality recipey to get a abundence of % upgrade stone's then probley worth it. However when running maps i ususaly find that trucking items like that back to town is not worth my time compared to leveling. will all deped on what u want im thinking. Also u will need a decent amount of stash tabs to deal with the % rescipey and then the rare recipey and / or the regal 1 so IDK if the stash space is worth it to yha. Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Thanks for the reply.
Got quite alot of stash space, 11 tabs and probably buying at least one more I think since I bought the 25 dollar pack and have some points left to spend. So probably will not be a problem. It is a hassle though like you said, constantly filling up ones inventory with % quality drops in order to get scraps and stones. Takes time. How many scraps/stones do you think it is worth it to spend for 2 orbs? It takes 20 upgrades to go from 0 to 20 on a rare item right? And 5 items for the 2xRegal orb recipe which makes the potential cost 100 upgrades. If using rares that already from scratch have quality mod the cost goes down ofc. So say 70:ish or so total stones/scraps is required for 2 orbs. Is it worth it? |

My advice would be vendor rare sets for chaos & then try to trade the chaos for a regal at a ratio of 2 or 3 to 1.
I think you'll find doing the whole upgrading quality thing with whetstones/scraps becomes more trouble than it's worth very quickly. Blasphemous HC-SSF Path of Exile 2 enjoyer.

"Armourer's Scraps and Whetstones are both rather easy to get by vendor formula, and it's something I do regularly, so I always have large stacks of both. That said, it probably still isn't worthwhile to take an item from zero quality to full in order to use the Regal Orb formula. You'd probably want to stash quality rares that happen to drop seperately, then after obtaining a full set of partial quality rares, use Whetstones/Scraps to finish them off; even then, you might want to use such rares on the Orb of Alchemy formula instead. The ones with zero quality are probably best used to get Chaos Orbs. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Thanks for the advice, really helpful. Great suggestion with the Orb of Alchemy formula, overlooked that one. Sounds like a good idea to spend scraps and stones on that instead.
Once again very helpful, big thanks. |

" This. Or at least, this is what I've been doing of late anyway. Store unidentified Superior Rares (particularly when over ~8%) and usually use for Alchs. |
