Elemental Disc (fancy [animated] Screenshots inside)

Hi everyone,

What I really like are multielemental attacks/skills. There are several reasons for that:

1. It just looks awesome
2. It makes many different builds possible (especially hybrid builds)
3. You are mostly suited fighting against any enemy type (fire/lightning/cold)

Because of those reasons, I thought about a new spell that uses all 3 elements.

Here are some concept screenshots I made:

Flame Disc:

Ice Disc:

Lightning Disc:

All 3 disc types together with animation:

The cool thing about the discs is, that you can decide, in which radius they circle around you. If your cursor is farther away from your character, the circle-radius will be bigger (see flame disc). If the cursor is really close to your character and you summon a disc, the circle-radius will be smaller (see ice disc). Of course the circle-radius is limited, so you can't summon it at the edge of your screen.
Here is an example of 3 possible different circle-radiuses (when castet with LMP):

Skill Information:

Attribute: Intelligence
Keywords: Spell, Projectile, Fire, Cold, Lightning, Duration
Cast Time: 0.5 sec.
Critical Strike Chance: 5%
Per 1% Quality: +2.5% Increased Duration
Required Level: 24
Duration: 4 sec.
Time for 1 complete circle: 1 sec.
Max. number of discs: 1

Suggestions about element-chance when casting a disc:
a) Always follow a given pattern (suggested by Nurvus)
Example: Fire -> Cold -> Lightning -> Fire -> Cold -> Lightning...

b) Guarantee that every 3 discs will always contain the 3 elements, in a random order. (suggested by Nurvus)
Example: Fire -> Cold -> Lightning -> Cold > Fire > Lightning -> Lightning -> Cold -> Fire...

c) Chance to summon a lightning, fire or cold disc is 1/3 each (random)
Example: Fire -> Fire -> Cold -> Fire -> Lightning -> Cold -> Lightning -> Fire...

d) Guarantee that every 3 discs will always contain the 3 elements, with a given pattern, that starts with a random element.
Example: 0.5 sec. Fire -> 0.5 sec. Cold -> 0.5 sec Lightning -> 0.5sec Fire -> 0.5sec Cold...

How do certain Support Gems effect Elemental Disc?

Increased Duration:

- Discs will stay longer, which results in more hits over time and less mana usage

Spell Totem:

- Totem will cast Discs by itself
- Circle-radius depends on the distance from enemy to totem

Faster Projectiles:

- Discs will travel faster, which results in more hits in a shorter time and more circles

Slower Projectiles:

- A projectile may hit a monster several times at once

Lesser/Greater Multiple Projectiles:

- Increases the max. number of discs
- Increases the number of discs you summon per cast

Would like to hear some feedback from you guys.

Greetings

Oh yes +1
I like everything about the spell except the randomness.
I'd prefer it to either:
a) always follow a pattern
Example: Fire -> Cold -> Lightning -> Fire -> Cold -> Lightning
b) guarantee that every 3 discs will always contain the 3 elements, in a random order.
Example: Fire > Cold > Lightning -> Cold > Fire > Lightning -> Lightning > Cold > Fire

---

That being said, I'd like to see some spell that actually deals two damage types simultaneously.

Elemental Fury
"
Enter Elemental Fury.
The first Fire, Cold or Lightning Spell you cast will instead begin channeling a Destruction Sphere of that type.

The second Fire, Cold or Lightning Spell you cast will finish the channeling, and if it's of a different element, the Sphere will deal 40% more damage, but half of each type.

Upon finishing the channeling, you fire the Destruction Sphere in the direction determined by the second Spell - a large, slow moving projectile that travels in a straight line and repeatedly damages any enemies in its path.

During the channeling, casting Elemental Fury again, or a Spell that is not Fire, Cold or Lightning will cancel the Channeling and cast the intended Spell.

Deals X to Y Damage per Y seconds of channeling, but no more than 3 seconds worth of channeling.

Note #1 - Cast Speed increase amplifies the amount of "ticks" you can get from this Spell.
Assuming it's 1 second by default, a 100% increased cast speed means X to Y damage per 0.5 second of channeling.

Note #2 - This Spell would require you to "potentially" waste 1-3 gem slots somewhere in your equipment with a 1-3 spell(s) of the desired element(s).

Note #3 - The 2 fire/cold/lightning spells used while Elemental Fury is active do not need to be linked to it.

Note #4 - It can be two types of Gems:
Option A
- Buff with Duration and Mana Cost (like Blood Rage)
- Keywords: Fire, Cold, Lightning, Duration, Spell, Projectile, AoE
Option B
- Toggleable with Mana Reservation (like Tempest Shield)
- Keywords: Fire, Cold, Lightning, Spell, Projectile, AoE

With "a)" you mean, that the first disc is fire, the second cold, the third light and so on, right?
Yes.

Yeah, then I think option b is much better. But what about option c:

d) Guarantee that every 3 discs will always contain the 3 elements, with a given pattern, that starts with a random element.
Example: 0.5 sec. Fire -> 0.5 sec. Cold -> 0.5 sec Lightning -> 0.5sec Fire -> 0.5sec Cold...

added those suggestions to the first post with your name behind it. :)
