Spectral Throw +gmp+ cast on crit + Ice spear (life based build)

this is my current build at lvl 74 (domination league)



this is what i'm aiming for



my current 4 link : spectral throw + cast on crit + gmp + ice spear

what my 5 link would look like : spectral throw + cast on crit + gmp + ice spear + life on hit (i'm still unsure between life on hit and life steal)

my 6 link would look like this: spectral throw + cast on crit + gmp + ice spear + life on hit + freeze pulse (with 20% q) or arc (why arc? because in theory it should shock stack the targets)

other untested variations :



tested spells that that don't work well or at all : cold snap (only 1 cast every 6 sec), lightning trap (doesn't work), Lightning Warp: useless due to cast animation and teleporting you all over, arctic breath : doesn't pierce the targets so i don't think it's worth it (but it looks really nice)

you can use curses to with cast on crit but i don't recommend sacrificing a slot for them

auras :clarity + grace or determination

my current gear :


what i'm aiming for in terms of weapons :
Ambusher or Platinum Kris

stats :
->Local Physical Damage%
->Local added Physical Damage
->Spell Damage +%
->Local Attack Speed +%
->Local Critical Strike Chance +%
->Base Critical Strike Multiplier +%


why physical (because i would need to leech mana and may be good for single target with double strike

depending on how it works i would either dual wield or use a shield in off hand (probably : safell's frame branded kite shield)

other items would be standard resist/hp items and maybe the unique ring :berek's grip two-stone ring

there's a 12% hp node you missed by the shadow start, figure this is a mistake since there's a lot of other 8% nodes you take.

i didn't realize that the aura passive "influence" and its clustered passives are actually better than "inner force" since inner force is self only, i guess it is nice for incoming auras, but man "influence" is a nice node. not a critique, just something i was surprised to observe.

you're really close to those dagger nodes near CI, might be worth the investment
you're also really close to unwavering stance, blood drinker and 2 12% hp nodes.
if you rework your method for traversing the duelist area i think you could be more efficient and have a few extra points to throw around.


what i'm curious is since you're relying on physical damage with daggers and spell damage with ice spear to do damage, what do you prioritize? all physical and any spell dmg is just icing on the cake?

->thanks for pointing that, i actually have the 12% node in-game but i missed it when i made the skill tree, with that i removed the 2 aura nodes (still unsure if i need 5% because i don't want to use blood magic gem), i might pick them again later and drop the 2 from duelist if i have enough mana regem to spam spectral throw with 5 or 6 link

->i actually when that way until level 60 because i didn't have gmp yep and it was way better using the damage from daggers than the spells, the problem with that was that crit chance/crit multi was applied only to dagger so not only i was using more skill points but my spells wouldn't really have a huge impact

-> unwavering stance is really awesome but i want to see how cast on stun could work and if's better with immortal call ofc, i'm not really sure what i can give from duelist maybe the lower area with hp/resist ( i would need more resists on the gear to make up for that)

on daggers i will try to get at least a physical roll/attack speed roll, another very good aflix is crit chance because it makes your dagger have more base crit chance(the dagger with 9% base crit chance has over 11% when multiplied )

You are basically doing what I am doing. I was gonna do the same but with lightning trap and then read here that lightning trap and Cast on Crit doesn't work. I will probably do ice spear as well. I went Scion cause she was new and has a bunch of nice nodes there too.

My plan (level 44 now)

5L - Spectral Throw, Cast on Crit, Power Charge on Crit, LMP, Ice Spear
Might do a bear trap in a 4L

go physical daggers with +physical, +physical %, attack speed, and crit chance (haven't checked if all 4 are possible)

I already got The Blood Dance boots to get frenzy charges and will switch to Victario's Acuity when league ends and remove the power charge

Bandit rewards: (gets the new achievement too)
Help Oak for +40 life
Help Kraitlyn for attack speed
Help Alira for power charge (for a total of 6 frenzy charges and 4 power charges)


Passives below require level 83

flat and %phys are prefixes, ias and crit are suffixes. It's possible. To this I would add %spelldmg as a prefix and spellcrit as a suffix - that'd be the perfect dagger for this build, hands down.

Then mirror it and dual wield.

Cool build trying it right now,but i wonder if you helped Kraityn in the quest Deal with the Bandits on merciless difficulty to receive a permanent +1 maximum Frenzy Charge? and do you have anything that consume the charges?

I'm definitely bookmarking this post and trying it out! I haven't seen anything else like it on these forums.
The one thing I'm seeing about any crit build is you will kill yourself to reflect. Do you have any tips about that?

Im making a build also based on Cast on Critical Strike, with Arc as the spell, in the combo Spectral Throw + GMP + 3xArc (6L) + Cast on Critical Strike. I intend to make arc crit and shock and make spectral throw crit alot.
