Point Blank Support Gem does not augment Fireball active skill

When I put Fireball and Point Blank in two linked Sockets nothing happens.
Neither do I get a letter affix at the spell icon, nor does any stat change. Not even mana consumption.
But since Fireball says "Fire,PROJECTILE,Spell,AoE" and Point Blank says "PROJECTILE, Support" it's supposed to work, right ?

If this is indeed the expected behavior, maybe the indicators or the tooltip should be changed.

Unbelievable this is the first bug worth reporting I found. After months of heavy playing :)

Edit: Also confirmed with Freezing Pulse and Ice Spear active skills, which both are not even AoE but "Cold, PROJECTILE, Spell"

The support gem's description states that "ranged attacks" are affected. Spells aren't considered attacks, but weapon-based skills are.

There are projectiles in both spell and attack categories. The "projectile" tag doesn't necessarily mean it applies to all projectiles.

Nevertheless, the tags at the top of the tooltip of the support gem should be changed to reflect that clearly.
