One Hander Types + Shield Nodes?
Currently, most shield nodes are pretty generic
+2% block chance +1% block chance and 40% block recovery. +1% block chance and 15% increased defenses. +4% block chance and 20% increased defenses. +30% increased defenses from shields. +40% block recovery. +50% block recovery. and some combined block/duel wield block nodes. The only nodes that become slightly more specific are: +30% energy shield on shield nodes +5% resistances while holding a shield +1% block chance and 12% of block chance applied to spells Most of that ^ is just bland and boring, its just generic stuff as boring as +10% melee physical damage. But, the node Weapon Artistry, while just as generic, got me thinking about something. Why not combine benefits from shield nodes and specific one hander types together? Example: (Tweak #s as seen fit) +3% attack speed and +40% block recovery while wielding a claw and shield. (Around Shadow) +10% increased critical strike chance and +5 block chance while wielding a dagger and shield. (Also around shadow?) +10% accuracy and +30% evasion on shield while wielding a sword and shield. (Around Ranger) +5% physical damage and +20% increased shield defenses while wielding an axe and shield. (Around Duelist) +5% spell damage and +30% energy shield on shield while holding a wand and shield. (Around Witch Area) +5% reduced enemy stun threshold and +20% increased armor on shield while holding a mace and shield. Quick nitpick. It wouldn't say "while using axe and shield", it would just be a node like this:
Axe and Shield Style +5% ipd with Axes +20% increased shield defenses ...and bury it in a cluster of interspersed axe and shield passives. This is enough to dissuade non-axe/shield users without having to create new semantics for the tree. Aside from that nitpick this would be nice to have. We don't have a lot of dual-effect nodes. There are the `+life + %life` nodes, `+block, +%defenses`, and the combination armors (`+%es,+%armor`, `+%es,+%eva`, `+%armor,+%eva`), but nothing that similar for weapons. 1h(for melee damage, not a caster)+shield could use a lot more love.
