Pillar of the Caged God + Iron Grip?

I know this is a long shot here, and quite the stretch of the mechanics of the game, but if you're using a projectile spell, and have the iron grip passive or skill gem on, would you also benefit from the 10% increased physical melee damage from the PotCG?

My line of thinking is that this is an added melee damage from Strength, just how Strength actually is, and Iron Grip states you gain the phys Increase from Strength for projectile damage.

I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't work, but if it does I have so many build ideas to try lmao.

"The physical damage bonus from strength" is separate from "the physical damage bonus from Pillar of the Caged God (that is based on strength)".

I'm afraid this won't work. If something modifies what the actual strength physical bonus is, rather than providing a new, separate bonus, it will explicitly say so, to be clear*.

EDIT: as others have pointed out, Iron Grip can't have any effect on a projectile spell, only attacks - I missed that on my first read through.

*At least, it will if I have any say in the matter.

Just to add. A projectile is Ranged not Melee. It's also a Local Modifier, thus only affects the damage from the weapon itself.

So, unless you can somehow shoot arrows with that thing, it won't affect your projectiles. Not sure if Lightning Strike counts though..

Also note that 'Iron Grip' only affects projectile attacks, not spells. And projectile attacks already benefit from the '10% increased Physical Weapon Damage per 10 Strength' that the pillar gives, since it is weapon dmg, not melee dmg.

(Note there aren't many projectile attacks you can do with a melee weapon. In fact, there is only 1 - the projectiles from lightning strike.)
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Also correct - the pillar's bonus is weapon, not melee, damage.
Thanks for the response Mark and everyone else, I figured as much, but it was worth a shot to see XD
