Base jewel crafting help?

I’ve been trying to find a guide or something but my google skills may be poor.
Anyway, I’m trying to get a crimson or cobalt jewel for my tree. I’m looking for: % max life Max res Damage over time So far all I’ve figured out is to alt (I think that’s it) orb it until I get one of those. Then aug orb if it only has 1. If I miss annul it and hope the mod I want doesn’t go away. If I finally get 2 I regal it to go rare and exalt to try for the third mod? I’m new to crafting even though I’ve played for awhile but buying that jewel was pretty steep so I thought I’d give crafting a go. I also tried reforging it on harvest bench. I know I can change the resistance to what I want after the fact there.
Maybe I’m on the right path and it’s just all dumb luck on the jewels. |

The majority of simple (non synth) jewel crafting is done as:
1. Purchase fractured base off trade website For your case, I would go with either: a) Crimson Jewel with +2% max res fractured (probably best) b) Cobalt Jewel with +%life fractured These combo's are based on the difference in weighting of the fractured mod for the specific base type. Keep in mind, when the affix is fractured, you will not be able to divine it or change its resist type with harvest, so buy exactly what you want with the desired value. 2. Using option A, use one of the following, based on current market prices" - Harvest reforge life - Pristine fossil w/ single resonator Until you hit any +% life+DoT 3. "In general Jewels cant be crafted efficiently in trade league. Unless you sell "good fails" to other players. If however you still want to craft it yourself: 1) As previous poster implied crafting on white(Edit: I mean without Fracture) base is very inefficient. 2) You probably dont actually want (increased) "Damage over time" mod as its comparatively inefficient due to the low values. 3) Viridian "reforge life" is likely your best approach. (At least it would be for SSF. I dont know the currency prices.) "For Harvest "reforge life" Viridian looks much better than the other two to me. (Didnt check whats better for Fossils.)
