Value of Trading

Actually as novice i can't fully understand the value of the trade's items.

E.g. i notice most unique is traded for gem cutter prism (gcp) i suppose cause when you reach a certain level of equip you can just works on the gems so gcp becomes very useful.

So, maybe someone can write down a list of orbs ordered by "value" for trading?

Sorry for typo and syntax error, i'm really tired tonight :P
Generally it works something like this (though values are constantly changing, and it is a barter economy - you first need to find someone willing to make the transaction and potentially haggle with them a bit):

2 Alterations = 1 Jewler

1 Jewler = 1 Chance
3 Jewler/Chance = 1 Chromatic
4 Jewler/Chance = 1 Scouring

1 Scouring = 1 Fusing/Alch
2 Scouring/Fusing/Alch = 1 Regret
3 Scouring/Fusing/Alch = 1 Regal

1 Regret = 1 Chaos/Blessed
3 Regret/Chaos/Blessed = 1 GCP

3 GCP = 1 Divine

6 GCP = 1 Exalted

? = Mirror

This is based on a combination of community "value" for items and vendor trading values (with regards to orbs; for example, 2 Alts = 1 Jewler comes from vendors).

Other orbs are generally not used much for trading at higher difficulties.

Realistically, people only trade Chaos/Fusings/GCP with the occasional other orbs - these are the highest in demand as so many are used at a time.

Thank you MonopolyLegend. :)

If someone else feel confident and want to contribute everyone is welcome.
How about skill gems?

When do the prices start and how high can they go due to:

- being lvled up

- due to having +bonus quality 1-20%?

Gems are only really valuable if they have a decent amount of quality on them. A gem with 10+% quality can be quite valuable. Level 1 gems with no quality are practically worthless except for a few rare and powerful support gems.

Trading is a great way to get good gear. Especially at high levels it can be significantly cheaper than trying to craft your own gear. If you want some of the best gear, though, you'll have to find/craft it yourself. It's very difficult to find someone willing to trade a 5L or 6L armor for example.

The level of a gem is usually based on what the buyer wants to pay, but when you're at the end of merciless it is pretty easy to get most gems to about 12-15 quickly. Gems higher level than that you can try to charge a bit more, but most people care more about the quality than the level.

As a general rule of thumb for quality,
0-4%=1 chaos
5-10%=1 gcp
10-14%=2 gcp
15-18%=3 gcp
19%=4 gcp
20%=5 gcp

This changes a bit from gem to gem, common quest gems like fireball or dual strike have almost no inherent value because they're easy to get and mediocre. Whereas the rarer (and better) support gems like Increased Item Quantity might be an extra 1 gcp on top of those prices. The reason why it's not just 1%=1gcp is because gems in the 10-15 range drop a lot more often than a gcp does, so a player trying to get a max quality gem will buy one thats already high and then finish the last few % with gcp's, instead of upgrading a gem from 0.

"gcp" has become the standard value measurement, because it tends to have the most stable price. A gcp will always be useful to someone, and using it has a permanent, and always positive effect on your character, as opposed to a fusing which may or may not work, and you may eventually upgrade and trade away that piece you spent 100+ fusings trying to link. However, just because people use gcp as a value (like "selling XYZ chest for 10 gcp") doesn't always mean they want exactly 10 gcp, usually they'd accept like 5 gcp, 6 chaos orbs (worth 2 gcp), and 1 divine (worth 3 gcp). It's like asking someone for 10 bucks, and they give you a 5, 2 ones, and a bunch of quarters.
