"Curse skills have #% reduced duration" mod on ring
Hey
I'm considering building a life stacking Hybrid Crit Penance Brand of Dissipation Inquisitor, following this pob: https://pobb.in/Utg7hKrI-ceD I'm confused about the mod on the rare ring that this pob showcases - it has the mod "Curse skills have #% reduced duration" which I cannot find on poe trade. How do I look for such rings? What am I missing? Thanks in advance Last bumped on Sep 12, 2025, 8:35:22 PM

Search for "Curse Skills have #% increased Skill Effect Duration", then set max value to a minus value.

" Thanks a bunch! How come most of the mods I see on those rings have negative values? Where does that come from? Why would anyone add a crafted mod to such ring knowing it would get negative value (eg: -66% to fire resistance) |

" There is a game mechanic called Reflecting Mists. They appear at random in maps. They offer two rings with inverted values. So one ring might give +66% Fire res, while the other will give -66% Fire res. It's completely RNG. If you're very very lucky, one of the rings will contain all positive values, but usually it's a mix of good and bad values between the two rings. |

" I see, thank you. What happens when adding a mod via the crafting bench? Is the outcome also RNG based (as in inverted values can appear)? |

" I have never tried this myself, but reflected mods have already been modified and are not a property of the item itself. Crafting a mod on it should retain its values as is. At least in theory. [3.26] Poor Man's Ward Loop: https://youtu.be/9zC-Q6a_MwY

" Items taken from the Reflecting Mists can't be crafted on. They have the 'Mirror' tag. They are what they are. EDIT: Actually, I think I'm wrong on that one. EDIT2: Yeah, I was wrong. They can be crafted on. As to your question, I have absolutely no idea. Last edited by WaywornExile#0835 on Jul 16, 2025, 5:33:28 PM

" No, you aren't. I forgot they have the "mirrored" tag (both of them), but I had a ring laying around in my stash to try, and you cannot craft anything on it (as expected). Those reflected items with crafts have been crafted beforehand and then reflected with the itemised version of Reflecting Mist. Only thing you can do with them is add anoints. Adding some more context and detail, despite being a bit late:
So the reflecting mists will also occasionally drop a currency item, of the same name (“Reflecting Mist”). This currency can be used on an item to invert mods at random, some positive, other negative. In this case, the Increased Curse Duration mod is being inverted. This mod is also a relatively rare mod, coming from Delve. Many folks this league are using these rings in conjunction with the new ring, Coiling Whisper (including myself). One applies a curse to a monster - after 90% of the curses duration has expired, if you kill the monster, you gain a soul (giving players a soul eater stack, buffing with attack speed, action speed and increased char size - very, very strong buff!). So, as such, some players are crafting very fancy rings, recombination a delve ring with this reduced curse duration mod onto a cogwork/helical base (which inherently multiply suffix modifier amounts by a percentage), then slamming said ring with a reflecting mist and hoping for the best (unless the player applies a hinekoras lock, of course). This is of course due to the shorter the curse duration, the quicker you can kill the monster and gain the soul eater stack! A bit confusing, but wanted to add some further context! GGz |
