Cyclone Ghost [Dual Claw, Cyclone, CI, Ghost Reaver]
|
Theorycrafting the feasibility of a Dual Claw CI Ghost Reaver Cyclone Witch. Proposed builds below (please note both builds are still rough and may not be fully optimized):
First build focuses on gaining charges via Blood Rage, Warlord Mark, and Power Charge on Crit to boost survivability and damage. Leech would easily cap at 20%. Weapons would be fast, high physical damage claws. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMAVysHY-aBEVC71jvh4vdtGacrLR_B80yzoqMEB1Awf8YfApeVwcUnqX5ZEZY2xVJT7Bgsvw5I2CQ9X8Nthq7jhKc0pwgV14hrY0PAUdrdFVCPRriT14Y2PRnXtvfy4fPqcNUdFAx9VmOlyxEvwuwWv3BS-tIQf7TFRwZmnsaeQFUrCl9qcU0WQG9XwQCaz4V9DI3bGkNjKU8NSRB7tzHsOPVLWPU62L46ncRN2C3SjHbvoO12an4V_dYHjAvssLl8i3qZmutj217b55p4rR7dSOvuhEg8jgFvV8k0Cp48gW-do_yr Gem Setup Options as follows: Body - Cyclone+FasterAttacks+LifeLeech+MeleeDmgFullLife+PCoC+AOE [other options include: Conc. Effect,Crit%] Helm - Discipline+Wrath+Haste+Red.Mana [other options: Purity] Glove - DualStrike+MeleeDmgFullLife+LifeLeech+FasterAttacks Boot - BloodRage+FasterCast+WarlordsMark+Red.Mana Claw 1 - FlickerStrike+FasterAttacks+MeleeDmgFullLife OR DecoyTotem+FasterCast+Red.Mana Claw 2 - WhirlingBlades+FasterAttacks OR WhirlingBlades+FasterAttacks+FlickerStrike Bandit Quests: Normal - Mana or Skillpoint Cruel - 12% Physical Merciless - +1 Power Charge Second build focuses on shock stacking and leech (less on crit). More passive survivability due to vaal pact but slightly less generated survivability from charges. Weapons would be Fast, Mid/High Physical and High Lite Damage. May benefit from the use of Wake of Destruction boot (reduces survivability) http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMAVysHY-aBEVC71jvh4venK4t6bRnB86Kjf8Z-WcHFLL-GrhXX14ZWY-wYw20Rlg5IpzTjhIhrGdfvoO12an4V_dYHtvcRL5ma62OP-tvnRwZfasLstMVAVW9XDI0NSS0fTLMEB5eVUlM9Xx8CNsXYJKcI2t24kwx9EH_Gno9G0NCboWe97m8dFPrSZp5xTZrPQ2O3MVj1ncSaeK0e3Uidrhps5CIpT-w4OthN2Ix2njyBb1fiMol35evuhEg8jgFvV8k0Cij6gsdBh3q4bPaukyo4J6nAUXDVcFLz6ha_KwrBANsaEHv1S746 Gem Setup Options as follows: Body - Cyclone+FasterAttacks+LifeLeech+MeleeDmgFullLife+AddedLiteDmg+AOE [other options include: Conc. Also I'd like to come to a consensus which build is better! thanks for reading, hopefully, we as the POE community can create a Clawed Ghost Witch. I like your skill picks, however I've been thinking of a passive tree that looks something like this:

This will leave you a lot of room to take dps as needed, you can also go for vaals from here. I think this setup is good as a "red line" and there are some more defensive passives along the line which will help out, for example an extra nullification node and it has nice + all resists too. |

I'm going to try out the second build in Normal. I've been wanting to do a Dual Claw Witch and this sounds like something I wanna try.

hmmm, I dont believe taking the armour and es nodes is necessary, especially if you head over to IR, also some other nodes dont make sense and will bite you in the butt on higher difficulties. I think going purely for es/evasion, and getting iron reflexes is the key to making your witch survivable to late game. I left out the dps nodes once again, there are a few you can choose, there are enough points spare:

I think I will give this a go! Last edited by thevdende#0414 on May 2, 2013, 11:07:34 AM

" A similar build was actually an option 3, but I decided against posting it due to the fact that it requires the most points before becoming viable. Also I feel IR builds are better started from the Duelist tree and HP focused since its very difficult to get Evasion with CI builds (via gear or passives) and running Grace for additional Evasion is difficult while running Discipline. The priority of the build is key, I obviously threw out full 117 builds but the build you posted will do little to no damage (due to low phys, crit and accuracy) with less leech and ES. Obviously you could choose the nodes later but my goal was to show complete builds where players can determine if survivability, dps or a mix of the two is more important as they level up. |

Hmmm, well I think if you manage to keep 3 stacks of static on most mobs, you will be fine because your pure dps wont need to be as high. The thing about using all the points for a build is that you will never actually have all those points in-game, so I always leave out a few. About the build, I think if you take all the +es nodes early game, and make your way over to ghost reaver then vaal, then head over to IR, this will leave you a lot of options for taking dps nodes if they are necessary. Also, I beleive being stunned or frozen will become a huge problem as you get to higher difficulties, you may either need chayayumba or w/e the ammy is called or go for unwavering stance from IR.

Can not be stunned while using cyclone, so stun really shouldn't be too big an issue, if it does bother you while your not cycloning, Eye of Chayula is an option.
Frozen is a different issue and Dream Fragments or Dispel Frozen flasks are required. Personally (as this is going to be my fifth CI character) I just use flasks as I feel Dream Fragments is overrated, especially with CI. Flask setup could be similar to the following: Surgeons Granite Flask of Heat Surgeons Granite Flask of Staunching (puncture wrecks this build since we depend on cyclone which forces us to move) Surgeons Granite of Warding Surgeons Granite Flask of Iron Skin Ample Quicksilver Flask of Adrenaline (personal preference on this one really, I like to be able to escape/catch-up 3 times in a row if need) I do understand the 117 point build are not feasible in terms of actually completing, I just like showing the full possibility to allow good choices to be made. For example, if your getting killed easily you can find the best ES/survivability nodes or if you need more damage you can find the best damage nodes while still following the base idea. I think you and I are essentially doing the same thing except from different ends of the spectrum. Also low dps will mean low leech which means low survivability. That is why some accuracy/damage nodes are required, this build essentially uses offense as defense. Last edited by futureGadget#7861 on May 3, 2013, 10:20:59 AM

I've read in other posts that Vaal Pact will actually help negate reflect damage (never confirmed myself), so build number two may work out better just for that fact. I must say I love this idea, in closed beta I made a dual wielding claw ranger and she was a beast until the 4th difficulty, but I had crappy gear and claws had no decent area attacks at all then (used lmp LS to heal, best area I could get). Now at least there is cyclone or melee splash or multi-strike. good luck with this build, I hope for your overwhelming success.
