Transferring PoE from one PC to another
Hi guys,
So I've recently bought a new computer, and I'm wanting to transfer PoE from my old one to the new one without having to re-download the game. For some reason, I can't figure out how to do this, as whenever I search my computer for the Exile folder, I cannot locate the actual game. How exactly can I do this? |

Launch the game, open Task Manager, go to Processes, and look for Client.exe. Right-click it, Open File Location. That will help you find the install directory.
From what I've read, the easiest way to transfer it to a new computer is this: 1. On the new computer, download and install the game client. Quit when it starts downloading the actual game files. 2. Copy the file "Content.ggpk" from the Path of Exile directory on the old PC to the Path of Exile directory on the new one. 3. Launch the game client again on the new PC. It should take just a couple minutes to verify the ggpk file and to download any smaller files it needs. This method is supposed to work a lot better than trying to copy the whole game directory to the new PC. The installer does some other stuff to set up the game, like creating some files in ~/My Documents/my games, and it's easier to just run the installer on the new PC than to track down and copy all those little files. |
