Restrict mouse inside of game area.
I don't know how many people play games windowed, but I do, almost never fullscreen. It is absolutely infuriating that the mouse can go outside of the game window, BUT not only that you can also resize the game accidentally when it does go outside (which has happened numerous times, and it caused the game to either crash, freeze, or log me out to the title screen, this JUST happened when I was very close to killing Merveil).
Please fix this, the fact that it happened while I needed 2-3 more hits on Merveil was the last straw for me, and I can only imagine how much more rage it will cause during the tougher areas and difficulties. That is not dead which can eternal lie.

It would be nice, but personally I haven't had a problem with this.
Sounds like the real issue you're having is you are losing track of the cursor. That happens to me sometimes, it's not very easy to see it. |

Yeah, happened to me several times. Can get nerve wrecking.
But i blame the numbskull in between the chair and the monitor :) Play it full screen!! POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

Personally, the primary reason I play Path of Exile windowed is because you can mouse outside the window if you want to.
However, I could support having an option for this. I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |

Yes but you can always Alt+tab to get outside the window.
I'm playing ranged characters so my cursor is almost ALWAYS at the edge of the screen. Having to quickly move it back towards the opposite side of the screen to run away, then quickly back to the opposite other end again to attack is not always possible to do it 100% accurately. So I will often accidentally click RIGHT on the part where you resize and drag it when I try to move my cursor back towards the center again or in whichever direction. If you're going to be mousing outside of the window then it's safe to say you're probably confident you're not going to die, in which case you can just alt+tab to the window you want to view. Am I gonna complain if it's added as an OPTION? Absolutely not, but I don't really see any reason to not have it as a default feature. At the very least I would like to not be able to resize the window if the mouse is still going to be allowed to freely travel outside of the game, because every time that happens it logs me out, freezes, or crashes. That's kind of a big problem in my opinion. I would play it fullscreen except for the fact that there's so much stuff in game that's not actually explained that I have to come to the forums to try and find answers. Making it fullscreen I can't monitor if I'm dying when I need to look up information and it takes a while to get back into the game when it's minimized. That is not dead which can eternal lie. If window resize actually leads to crashes, then not allowing window resize at least does sound like a no-brainer.
As for binding mouse to the window, yea, it would be nice to have options there. I would like to have the exact opposite option personally, though, that is playing fullscreen and not binding the mouse, so you can dual screen and move the mouse freely to windows on the other screen (cause in fullscrreen having the mouse bound IS currently default, and it sorta ruins the point of dual screen for me). |

" I've never used two monitors so I know nothing about that, but it sounds like a reasonable suggestion to me for those who do (and I don't think doing that would cause any problems for fullscreen users like I am having with windowed). Can't you make your game play windowed but use the full resolution of your monitor? That way it's windowed but takes up the entire screen, just a suggestion. For me every time I've accidentally resized while in an instance, it's caused the game to freeze (where I've had to open task manager and end the process), crash (just flat out close after a certain period of time), and log me out to the login screen (happened the last two times). This happened while I was in an hostile area, so maybe dying while it was busy resizing the window or something causes it to do that, but it takes FOREVER to recover from resizing the window, so it's likely I died in all cases. Either way I currently hate that right now. No resize or restrict the mouse inside, I would prefer restricting it inside just because people will accidentally click outside and have another window cover up the game then have to stumble around to get back into the game. It would cause less headaches. Alt+tab is sufficient and you wont accidentally get out of the game unless you're holding alt to look at items and also want to bring up the map (in which case you can rebind anyway). That is not dead which can eternal lie.

I play mostly ranged characters as well and have this happen to me a few times too. I like playing games in full screen, but usually end up playing in windowed mode as I do tab to other windows occasionally.
I think having an option to limit the mouse to the window would probably be enough, but my absolute favorite solution would be a "simulated fullscreen", where the game is actually in windowed mode, but resized so that the window borders and title are just off screen. Some games offer this, and many have mods which allow for it. Not a must have, but I love it when it's available and always prefer it over other methods. |
