Music hanging up, along with a short freeze, then restarts.

Have anyone else had this recently with the new patch and just before it?

I've been having the music hang up and I freeze for a second or two, then the music restarts...

This can be in town, on the map, wherever...

Any thoughts?

Well...now the music won't go fully through the track and abruptly restarts in town, in dungeons and what not...has anyone else had this issue?
i have been getting this as well .. it didnt really seem like a big deal, but nearly got killed because of it just now :)

any way to fix/avoid this?
If it's just cutting out with, and the game isn't crashing it sounds like the games audio files are corrupt or incomplete.

First off you could try adding the -swa command line and testing it.
Right click the short cut, select properties and in the box marked target you'll want this

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\Client.exe" -swa

If that doesn't work the you will likely need to run the pack checker(located in the game folder)

If it finds anything it should download the complete files for you

If you still get the problem after this, then your ISP is giving you cached files which are incomplete/corrupt or out of date and you will likely have to try to download through a VPN.

All the details on how are here : https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/103073

You will likely need to re download the full game this way though.
Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

He who controls the pants controls the galaxy. - Rick & Morty S3E1
Thanks for the tips.

I have tried the -swa option, tried packcheck and tried re-installing the entire game, but unfortunately this is still happening.

It seems unlikely that it has something to do with corrupt/incomplete files though, as it doesn't always happen at the same moment in the music track. Sometimes it will restart after 5-10 seconds, then other times it will complete the entire track.

EDIT: Did some more testing .. it seems as if the music restarts at a later point in the track each time. Like I will load into Lioneye's Watch, and it restarts after the first drum. Then the second time, it restarts 15-20 seconds later in the track, etc. Not sure what this means though, but seems relevant :)

I have also had this problem since launch day. I did not have this problem playing the beta 2 days before launch.

I forgot to 'un beta' the install so I've already re-downloaded the client once.

In my system resources each occurrence of this is punctuated by a pegging of the HDD and a sharp dip in CPU activity. Which would indicate to me that there's a resource call to the HDD that's for some reason taking way longer than normal and the CPU sits idle waiting.

I am not using a creative sound device but i'll try -swa momentarily and report back.

edit: turning on the -swa switch disables my sound entirely, it is currently routed through my blue yeti and I don't think that works at all without drivers. I tried routing it through my main sound card and determined the issue was still present with -swa and without -swa

edit 2: I just realized the dates on this thread. Sorry for the necro, I should clarify that i'm talking about a problem matching the OP description that suddenly appeared for me in Awakening.
