Game won't launch - client window doesn't appear after launcher
After the latest patch I can't play the game, it was fine until then. The launcher starts up, then disappears. The PathOfExile.exe process appears in the Task Manager for a few seconds, then disappears.
What I've tried so far: * PackCheck.exe * Deleting local files such as %appdata% or My Games/Path of Exile folder The log file ends at: " Normally window starts and VULKAN is loaded after this but now it fails to start up the window. Worker logs are empty (only have LOG FILE OPENING lines), as well as crash dumps. I was also playing on an external monitor the last time I played, I thought that might've been the issue but it didn't work when I plugged in the external monitor either. Thanks for your help. Got the same issue since the last patch.
Tried to re-install and switched my gpu settings. sadly no effect. game launches to the spinning wheels and there it is stuck forever. Hope they fix this as a side effect in next patch updates :// |

So, uh, turns out I just needed to restart the PC. I think your problems are a bit different since I didn't even get the window. Maybe try posting your Client logs to see what's wrong. My bets are on shader caches or driver issues so maybe try updating your drivers and removing your %appdata% and My Games poe folders to trigger a redownload.

Turns out it was my graphics driver. By coincidence, I also got an Nvidia update the other night which seemed to be related.
Here is how I found it: 1. Looked at my Client .Worker7.txt file and saw this message: 2021/07/20 13:26:40 ***** LOG FILE OPENING ***** 2021/07/20 13:26:42 4575859 71 [CRIT Client 7600] [D3D11] CreateShaderResourceViewEx: The GPU device instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action. (GetDeviceRemovedReason: An internal issue prevented the driver from carrying out the specified operation. The driver's state is probably suspect, and the application should not continue.) 2. I recalled the Nvidia update and tried to open the Nvidia control panel and it wouldnt open. Then went in to system settings for display and it said the device was working correctly. But, I went ahead and selected driver properties, and update driver. Windows started searching for new driver, found one, and told me upgrade was complete. 3. Tried to open Nvidia control panel again, and it worked. 4. Tried POE and it now works. So I suspect the Nvidia update may have been the culprit, not the POE update. Anyway, hope that helps. |
