Impales And Herald of Purity
Do the heralds apply Impales effectively and do their impales count towards your flat phys damage boost per impale from their impales???

There's no double dipping, so if you have 12% more physical damage from herald of purity, your impales will do 12% more total damage.

Master of metal give me and the heralds bonus physical damage for each impale on the enemy.
The question is whether I should put impale support on the heralds as well to keep up stacks - if their stacks count as my own. Thanks |

The Sentinels summoned by Herald of Purity are Minions and thus follow all the usual Minion rules. Minions don't have your passive skill tree and aren't wearing your equipment, so in order for them to inflict Impale on the enemy, you'd need to use Impale Support like you mentioned.
Their stacks don't count as your stacks, but it doesn't matter, because the Master of Metal passive grants the bonus "for each Impale on Enemy." It doesn't need to be Impales that you inflicted, nor Impales that your minions inflicted; they just have to be any Impale from any source. Need game info? Thanks,
So if they are hitting the enemy without impale support, are they removing my impales? |

" Yes. The damage from your impales is still applied to the enemies, but you will lose some of the bonus damage per impale because fewer impales will be active at the same time. Well, technically the enemies might also have more mitigation against the impale if fewer stacks are consumed at once, but most builds have enough damage and overwhelm for that to be irrelevant anyway. |

" I'm just starting out and don't have that OP damage yet. Would it be better to support the heralds with the minion gem that makes them defensive/not attack? |

I think it would probably be better to not use the herald for the marginal damage gain it provides and instead use the mana for something else and rely on the flat damage per impale.
Depending on what skill and weapon you use, you might also hit enemies so much faster than the sentinels would, that the number of impales consumed by the sentinels is insignificant compared to the ones you apply. Either way, I doubt that supporting Herald of Purity with either Meat Shield or Impale and thus increasing its mana reservation would be worth the opportunity cost. The more you need to invest into the herald to not hinder your build, the less marginal benefit you actually gain from it. |

Once an impale is applied then the next 5 times the target is hit will apply 20% of the applied damage (obviously all this can be buffed). The hit can come from any source: you, a minion, a party member, etc...presumably even a self-inflicted hit from gear like Scope's Bridle.
Minions have a default 0% chance to impale and need a support gem, banner buff, or cluster passive (Rotten Claws maybe?) to apply it. However, 0% to apply still grants 100% chance to trigger impales on the target. A single hit can trigger multiple impales but only 1 per source. If you nd a minion were to both impale the target, the next hit would trigger 1 impale from each of you. |

"The base effect of impale is 10% of the outgoing damage of the impaling hit. There are many sources of increased impale effect however, which affects this percentage. |
