Interaction Question: Avatar of the Veil (Raider) + Her Embrace (Oni-Goroshi)

In the Raider tree, Avatar of the Veil offers immunity to elemental ailments while Phasing, and the Ascendancy keystone before grants permanent Phasing.
Does this negate the burning damage taken from Her Embrace, or does that damage not count as an elemental ailment? Last bumped on Jan 26, 2021, 6:14:03 AM

that damage is not an ailment, as the sword itself offers immunity to ignite.
the burn dmg is not an ignite nor an ailment. it is however reduced by fire resist |

Had a Raider with Oni-Goroshi during Heist League. Needed the phasing for obvious reasons.
One may confuse Oni-Goroshi's Her Embrace as a Righteous Fire, which, while it is not an ignition, it is still a Burn, and therefore can be "doused" with a flask for Ignition immunity, or Sin's Rebirth. Her Embrace, on the other hand, is just a Fire DoT on you. It is neither an ignition, nor a burn. In order to avoid death by Her Embrace, I STRONGLY suggest you to equip yourself a second set of weapons (you should already do it in order to level up 6 more gems, I hope). When Her Embrace gets too hairy, just quickly tap X (or whatever key you bound to Weapon Swap) twice - Her Embrace will go away the moment you start swapping. It's not like you get any bonus for constantly equipping it, after all. |

" Guess either a bonus for time being equipped, or a "disable second weapon slot" would have made the sword work as intended. Though I'd admit - I only did it when I was under 500 HP, huddled into a corner burning white and remembered I don't use logoff macro. Which, kinda, does the same thing. Loved to stay under her fiery spell for as much time as possible. Heck, she was half my DPS and some more. Unfortunately, grishnakah, GGG made impossible to reach 100% Fire Immunity for players long ago. That said, I'm still waiting for the equivalent of Spell Totem with Ancestral Totem, only to see how good would be a Chieftain with Totems equipped with Oni-Goroshis. Ablaze. " Nah, we talked about it and basically if you're using weapon-swap to mitigate the pain, that's just smart. The 'original' version doesn't burn its wielder either, but its various attributes would even more difficult to implement in PoE so I went with something of an abstracted approach -- She inflicts severe psychological pain on the wielder, so...trade one suffering for another. And of course, all you have to do to make it stop is put Her down. Or, in your case, switch Her out. But this one I saw kill Shaper with the OLD version of the sword (The Goddess Unleashed -- much weaker) did so with weapon-swapping...to a different-socketed Goddess Unleashed. Now that's some next-level love. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
