Frost Curse Gem Requires Dexterity? WTveryF?

As the title suggests.

After killing Fidelitas in the Chamber of Sins I am awarded a selection of Skill Gems.

I go down the list...

The fire one, looks nice, but I'm a boring ol' FP'er
The Lightning one, looks nice, but I'm a boring ol' FP'er

Get to the Frost one...

Requires Dexterity, please wait until you've boosted your dex before using this Gem.

Funny, the other two didn't have this requirement, and, aren't the 'majority' of Witches going to be FreezingPulsers?

Is this some kind of secret FP nerf? When did this happen?

CRONK
shadow - frost

templar - fire

witch - lightning

Why?
why not.

make you to put str, dex into consideration.

nothing is useless.
Erm, because as a witch you're supposed to have a choice of all three without penulty and the curse key-stone is directly above and designed for the witch, who is also most notable for the supposedly OP cold spells.

Obviously.
if all dex nodes were mile away from witch nodes, then it is a problem.

but there are 2 big ones that are easy to access. take them.

or get the gear that has dex on.

requirements are there to spice up the game.
That's your spin on it is it.

You mean I have to waste points and mods to do something I should be able to do anyway had I chosen lightning instead of cold.

Seems like a retardedly irritating concept to me rather than 'spice'.
sorry to hear that.

you should get gears with dex if you want to avoid wasting points.

Those curses aren't witch-specific though. If you're talking about Frostbite, it's also offered as a reward to the ranger and the shadow for completing that same quest, neither of which are int classes. Many of the other gems in the game have dual stat requirements, or have requirements which are in line with your class, so you just need to take that into account and adjust your build accordingly.

Later you may want to use reduced mana gem with auras, which is a str gem. By your logic, you could argue that since the inner force cluster is nearby, witches are obviously meant to be running loads of auras, and need the reduced mana gem to support them, so the gem should be int. But it isn't.

Stat nodes are pretty accessible and you usually end up picking up a bunch on your way to other classes' sections of the tree, so it's not really something to worry about.
