Frenzy + Ranged Attack Totem = Frenzy Charges?

So I am theory building here and I'm afraid that I just don't know enough about POE gem mechanics. So my question is can I support a ranged attack totem with the frenzy skill and if so will it then generate frenzy charges to me?

actually, nothing will happen. totems are supposed to get the charges but their maximum frenzy charges is zero.
