General Discussion - Expansion vs League - Forum - Path of Exile

After watching the trailer I am a little confused as to what is expansion content and what is the new league mechanic. Is Betrayal the expansion name equivalent to War for the Atlas or just the league title? And if the expansion title is yet to be announced will there also be supporter packs for it such as the war for the atlas? there is no expansion title and stuff yet, that'll come with 4.0 betrayal is the league mechanic, and its only the league mechanic. every other change is the expansion. so the new/reworked skill gems, new masters/master crafting, atlas rework and new maps etc is all expansion. Ah that's where I was confused. For some reason I thought this next league was coming with an expansion. But Ziggyd's video is titled "Path of Exile: BETRAYAL - New Masters & Immortal Rivals - 3.5 Expansion" ? But the query of how much of 3.5 is core and how much is tied to the Betrayal league is a legitimate one. I imagine most of it is obvious though: new skills and passive changes would be core; anything to do with Master changes (i.e. new vs old) and the Syndicate board is Betrayal; uniques can swing either way. Or maybe the Master reshuffle is core and the ability to manipulate the old ones+some familiar faces is Betrayal. It's all a bit murky right now. You can guarantee the new master crafting system is core though, as is the hideout update.
