The solution for keeping trade chat but make it totally functional.
Let's get real everyone, GGG is never going to code in an auction house. Chris has stated numerous times that he does not favor one. So what part of NEVER don't you understand?
The only thing wrong with the current Trade Chat is the requirement that the seller has to be logged into PoE meaning CHAINED TO OUR GAMING RIG to receive WTB messages. The oh so obvious solution to this disaster (and why current trade chat is a super fail) is for GGG to create a mobile app for selling. Then when a player whispers a WTB the seller would be notified on his/her phone via the PoE app (a great use for instant messaging and would take GGG out of the stone age and place them at the forefront of game trading), could then send the invite to hideout (or have another button to defer to later... "I'm busy ATM... try back in x minutes please"... something like that, and another setting for auto-responding with a canned reply like "sleeping now, please whisper again after xx time". ), access the sell tab to pull out the item to sell and have the trade screen show it, wait until the buyer has placed the currency to trade the item for, and then press the Accept button to complete the trade. With a PoE trade app (selling only, to buy you still must do it by playing PoE and sending a WTB whisper) the selling of items can be done from anywhere as most people always have their phone on them wherever they go. Buyers will get responses to their WTBs most of the time and not get frustrated "I've whispered 10 times with no response, WHERE THE HELL ARE THE SELLERS!!!). It's a win-win for all! So the big question that we all should be asking GGG (and especially now in light of the backlash from the Blizzard announcement of Diablo on mobile) is why we don't have a mobile PoE sellers app. Let's all shout this to GGG. We're the Who and GGG is the Horton that we have to make hear us. Start YELPING to GGG now. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. Poe trade live search comes close.
Posted an item yesterday and got spammed with party invites. I ignored them and raised price. The lowball price fix flippers at their best, but now I use their tools against them to price check my gear. Works well. Offline npc would be cool. Something like a guild stash but you can only remove an item from it by inputting a set amount of currency. Vorici can shove his fuse up his [removed]

" If only they designed and balanced the game around "mostly self-found, with the occasional PitA trade" instead of "trade economy / you're expected to trade". Then people would have no reason to complain about a trade system that's designed to be inefficient. But of course, then you'd have some people still jumping through all the annoying hoops necessary to trade for everything they need instead of PLAYING THE GAME, and coming here to complain about how easy the game is when you spend half your play time trading. It's a fine line to walk for the devs, I admit. But I believe "If trading makes the game too easy, play SSF" would be a much more reasonable thing to say than the all-too-popular "If you don't like trading, play SSF". ____________________________________________________________________________________
