Cpu usage is too high ??

Hello there dear exiles.
Few months ago me and my buddy bought new pc's mostly from scratch.
I got an i7 7700k 16gb ram with an old sapphire r9 380x cuz i didn't feel rich enough to upgrade gpu too :D
Buddy has i5 7600k 16gb ram and he got his hands on a Gigabyte 1080. Both are running game from ssd, same monitor, with the exception of the cooling, which i don't think that affects the issue at hand.
I have water cooling he has 1x120mm air cool. Temperatures in game are at 50-60 both sides so there is no overheat anywhere.
In task manager, my game runs at 30-40% load
His game runs at 80% up to 90%+ load :D

What is going on ? Was he lucky enough to get a really bad cpu from the production line ? Or it has something to do with the 2 threads per core vs 1 thread per core in his case ?
Is that cpu load normal for poe on that cpu ? Anyone running the same ?

It wouldn't be much of a problem the load after all, but he claims the game while playing in a party of 2, starts slow-motioning then after few seconds it fasts forwards the time and moving /mobs/objects.
Is the cpu doing bottleneck with that video card maybe ?

Hello,

An i5 with 4 cores and 4 threads is perfectly capable of playing games, but it's going to use a lot of the CPU's resources to do so. This is fine - most programs people run in the background, e.g. Spotify or Skype, won't require significant CPU usage to function.

Your CPU having HyperThreading and his not having it would help to explain the disparity. I'd also be curious about whether he has overclocked his CPU, as his i5 has lower default clock speeds than your i7, which would also explain some of the usage delta you're reporting.

I don't believe the CPU usage is relevant to the problem however. It sounds like a networking issue more than a system problem. If he could read this thread and run WinMTR the next time this happens, then post it on the forum or e-mail it to techsupport@grindinggear.com - or both - someone could look at what's going on. It's possible that there's a problem on his end, such as an unstable wireless connection, or perhaps he's in a group with someone who lives far away from him, which would mean both people playing on the same server - which may be significantly further away from him than the one he usually plays on. That it only seems to happen when he's in a group seems to suggest the latter. The further away the server is from his computer, the worse his connection to it will be. Unfortunately that's not something we can fix.
