How do i play with friends who may be different levels.

So Ive been back and forth on POE and the main concept that ruins it for me is that every time I would like to play with a friend, most of the time we are at different levels in which there is no benefit to playing together. If i can't play with my friends, why bother?
I wanted to ask if it gets easier to enjoy the game with friends in endgame versus leveling up and what are possible solutions.
I know that one is to create a character to play only with a friend, but I dont really like that one.
