Elemental Equilibrium questions

Would Elemental damage done by minions, such as zombies with an elemental support gem trigger Equilibrium?

Would the - resist % stack twice to %40 resist reduction if 2 other elemental damages were inflicted?

No, the passive only affects damage you deal. It's not possible for any minions to take this passive, so their damage will not cause the effect.

Yes, if they are inflicted at the same time. There can only be one elemental equilibrium debuff on an enemy at a time, so hitting with one element and then the other will cancel the effect of the first one, but if you hit with two elements at the same time you get the combined effect of both. This is not the case for hitting simultaneously with three elements, which has no effect.
Thank you sir for an impressively quick reply. Makes me wonder what might be the most effective way to achieve that -40 res then and formulate a build around that.

Cold spells + Cold to Fire for -40% to Lightning, then use Lightning spells to kill them.
Walking the path since August 20th 2011.
Glacial Hammer on left click.
Frenzy linked with Added Fire Damage and Added Lightning Damage on right click.

Left click, right click, win. ;)

(Or actually, Right click, Left click, but whatever.)
What about with smth like Firestorm. Would mob instantly gain 30% resist to fire after the first fireball? Rendering consequent hits weaker.

yes but no, the passive is always applied so as soon as u hit with lightning u would change the rez's over again, to quote mark

Drudley was assuming a two hit kill.

cold to fire dmg, -40% lightning resist
lightning dmg, -20%cold -20%fire resist
cold to fire dmg, -40% lightning resist
etc.
