Just throwing it out there (mail system)

OK so i will explain where i am coming from..

In the past 2 weeks.. been trying to buy good gear(nothing expensive like 1 alch to 1 c max) for a new char i started to play..

So i go to poe.trade search thru the hordes of thread.. for every item i had in mind, i looked up 3 to 4 people and requested (left a comment) thru their shop thread and took their ingame name and tried to whisper but with no success.. gave up on whispers bcoz god knows what time zones we live apart.. so left a PM in their poe account on the site..

Out of all the PMs i did, i didnt get a single reply.. so clearly there is something wrong.. i figured to google things, found out that usually the endgame items (expensive ones) that people are selling are the same people who check their threads to see if anyone is interested in their items.. which is a good thing..

But the mid game gear that people post rarely gets checked.. and often (probably) just sits there if the player dont check their poe account thru the site.. i think this is a problem.

I checked about ingame trading the and people are divided about that.. and i guess GGG wont implement the idea of an ingame auction/trading house.. since all this is said.. and clearly you cant whisper the seller when they are offline.. why not create a mail system..

Simple enough with limited storage say 15 to 20 mail capacity at max..

Through it you can mail the person in game to make him aware of your interest in his item that is in the shop thread.. and as a plus thing.. guilds can convey thoughts, notification, rules to its members thru mail..

as a bonus too.. the selling person can invoke a trade mail that will place the item in and indicate the selling price.. then he sends the mail to the buyer.. and he can go offline.. when the buyer goes online.. he opens the mail and he has to place/slot in the asked price.. if he do so he gets the item and automated response with the price paid included will be replied to the seller.. 2 days later.. the seller goes online.. opens the mail and he gets his money..

this will be like hitting 2 birds with one stone.. a mail system to communicate with guildies thru the game.. and a trading system without having an auction house..

What do you guys think?

PS: Sorry if this topic is somewhere out there in the forums..

PM's is a waste of time in my experience, add the sellers as friends in-game and write a note on them about item name and price. When they get online you will see it instantly and can message them there and then. At the same time set up item searches on poe.trade with the stats you are looking for and enable notification by sound, bookmark the searches so you can open them fast every time you log on.
This should the most effective way to get the items you need as far as I know, if this doesn't work then start crafting items yourself.

1) you can search poe.trade for online only. In fact it's default... Yeah some may be afk and some have good reason to sit afk while they are sleeping (aka high level spectres if summoning build) but honestly people who won't get back to you eventually are wither few and far between or in the price range you specified, list a bunch of stuff for an alch or chaos and do in fact act like assholes and suddenly decide that price is not worth the effort but make no effort to change their shop or close it. But it seems like you gave up way too early if that were the case.

2) not everyone plays every single day so pm could take a long time to be seen since not everybody checks the website everyday too.

But 3) I've had similar ideas and mentioned them on the forum before. It seems like if they wanted to avoid auction houses outright, have a shop, be able to send a message to the owner identifying the item desired like poe.trade and then just has a here is my offer window that steals the currency from your stash until the offer is accepted or declined or counteroffered.

It mandates player ineraction indirectly avoiding auction house instabuys with lack of a buy now button. It also has the possibility to be used both website and in game I would hope.

Will i appreciate the response and the idea..

its just a lot of work.. wouldnt a mail system (mail box) in game simplify things.. adding people and waiting fro them to pop online is not a convenient thing..
The forums is filled with good ideas on how to improve different aspects of the game, the problem
is that most people have no idea about the programming limitations and obstacles the game has on the technical side of things, how much time and resources it would take to implement the ideas and the not so obvious consequences the implementation of new ideas have that can in the worst case cause bigger problems and challenges than what already exists. I believe GGG does their best in improving and making the best game possible, even so many players complain from their own narrow point of view.
I believe there is good solutions to most of the obstacles players face in the game when it comes to getting items and speccing their characters, most complaints are either based on lack of knowledge or pure laziness in my opinion. - the game is made obscure and unavailable by design, this is a part of what makes it stand out from other games and creates the unique experience PoE is.

true..

Thats why i titled the thread "just throwing it out there".. i know programming has limitation.. and implementing new features takes time..

when you mentioned craft yourself.. it takes alot of resources to get a a decent item.. and am not talking about end game.. sometimes getting the right mod on the gear is too random.. so buying mid game (lvl50 to 65) items is simpler...

am not complaining.. like the grind and the twinkly eyes when you find a nice drop.. but it wouldnt hurt to have such a mail feature in the futur if ever they think of improving that little aspect about the game..
Use the online only feature on PoE.trade

PMing people is a fools bet

what we really need is some form of Asynchronous trade
I dont see any any key!

the Asynchronous method can be done thru the mail system neatly if ever.. i mean you send a request thru mail that you are willing to buy a certain item..

the seller replies thru mail with the item locked for a certain price.. once the price is inserted.. the item unlocks.. the buyer gets his item.. the mail gets sent back to the seller with the money in it..

the mail with the item could be locked for 24 hours.. if the buyer dont respond the item thru mail, the mail gets sent back to the seller..

this all can happen thru the game without both parties have to be online at the same time..

I might do a step by step in game images to roughly demonstrate the idea for the future probably..
