Content.ggpk redownload.

So lately I've been having this issue where Content.ggpk gets removed from my pc after I try and update. It generally happens after loading up PoE and let the installer do the updating (using PathOfExile_x64Steam). My Antivirus stuff has PoE as an exception too and running the game as administrator.

I am able to load up PoE after the installer has done the update but upon title screen i'm given a pop up saying that Path of Exile has been updated and that i should close the game and update it (again) and I close the game to double check everything is installed correctly. The issue is when I do the "Verify files" through steam cause packcheck is also missing from the PoE folder and mentions that there is missing files and will be reacquired.

When going to the downloads page on steam it says it needs to download ~5gb again. Is this just bad luck on my end?

Thanks.

It sounds like Steam believes Content.ggpk has become corrupted and is attempting to download another copy of the damaged files. Unless you allow it to do this, or otherwise correct the damage, it's not going to stop trying. Whether Steam's detection of data corruption is correct, I can only guess.

The standalone client is usually a little more reliable, because it was created by GGG, who obviously understand their own .ggpk (Grinding Gears PacK) format. Steam doesn't, and sometimes wrongly concludes data corruption has occurred. This is dramatically more common when your Content.ggpk has been created or modified by the standalone client. If you want to use Steam, you have to use Steam all of the time.

Which is odd cause I never touched the files. Just happened during the steam update of the content.ggpk file. Just went ahead and redownloaded it. Happy to keep using Steam for now. Was hoping to play PoE sooner but yea can't always get what we want. Luckily got some hours in :)
