Chain-explosions from Profane Bloom/Obliteration are extremely fun. Please buff base radius in 2.6

Basically the title says it all.
Why am I asking this? Because they are passive effects which can't be linked to Increased Area of Effect Support gem. And because of that, scaling their explosion's area relies exclusively on passives and items. Then someone might say: "So stack more AoE clusters from passive tree and get some items with increased AoE... Problem solved." Well... Not exactly. GGG says they don't want us to feel like stacking AoE is completely mandatory to run a build. On the other hand, they don't want us to scale it infinetively, that's why they are adding diminishing returns to it. The main problem here is that the current base radius of the explosions is not big at all. So if you want to have that extremely fun and rewarding feeling of having some chain reaction explosions going on through packs of monster, you already have to invest considerably in AoE. The changes on AoE mechanics dramatically affects Profane Bloom/Obliteration, and I would love to see an update to their explosion's base radius, so that Patch 2.6 don't kill these two extremely fun options of gameplay we currently have. I don't think it's that much of a change if they leave base radius alone. Maybe I don't get it, but the passive change is just this: they are just changing scaling to work through actual area instead of radius. It's gonna be fine, in that regard at least. The diminishing returns are not something they are adding artificially, it's just geometry.
Here is how it was before: The radius of exlosion is 10[units], so the area is 314[units2]. If you increase the radius by one full cluster of aoe, lets say it's 100%, it's gonna be 20[units]. But the AoE is actually 1256[units2], so it didn't double, it quardupled. If you increase it by 200%, its gonna be area of 2826units2]. that's x9 of original area. That's what they didn't like. 2.6: (with assumed data from previous paragraph) you take one passive cluster and area gets quadrupled. another cluster makes it 8x, so you loose that 314[units2] area in comparison... that's like 1.5[unit] lost in radius in comparion to before. you have a circle and you increase radius, it's exponential area increase. You have a circle and you increase area, you get diminishing radius increase beacuse more of area gets spread out. That's the "dimnishing return" they are talking about. I'm assuming they will let people get similar aoe as before with skills that don't have base radius unchanged, it's really a matter of balancing out the passive increase and it's super easy to calculate to do correctly. It's just gonna be bigger leap with your first investment and less of a leap with each new investment if they do this correctly. I don't think it's gonna be that big of a deal for profane bloom and obliteration... unless they decided to change base aoe for even worse than before and didn't tell anyone yet because reasons, not like it didn't happen at all with some other skills in manifesto. /edit: oh yeah, so please don't buff the base radius. There is nothing to fix here. Last edited by Razis#4500 on Feb 27, 2017, 3:53:08 PM
