Poison firestorm. Why not poison bladefall

If someone understands math behind the meta builds, can someone please explain why everyone uses two consuming darks to convert firestorm to chaos and poison for dips instead of just using physical spells like bladefall and maybe a mings heart.

Better double dipping.

With two Ming's Heart to get the +40% extra chaos dmg, you're going to be scrounging +resist on other gear and "gaining" -30% max life and max ES debuff.

2x consuming gets you 60% fire -> chaos conversion that also poisons on hit. Firestorm is just an easy-to-use AoE fire spell.

couple of small reasons:

firestorm has duration that can be scaled. bladefall does not
bladefall is a dex skill, firestorm is int skill
leech is more consistent

couple of big reasons:

consuming dark gives you free poison
generic elemental/fire damage is easier to get than generic phys damage and major part of bladefall is phys

teh biggest reason of them all:

fire damage is converted to chaos damage. % chaos damage modifiers double dip on main damage and poison damage.

now if bladefall base damage was chaos, it would be potentially as strong as firestorm. less leechy and no duration but more raw power potential; youd still need a poison gem though but youd probably make up for it with some better weapons than CD.

What about fire nova mine :)
Bladefall works really well for poison too but in addition to what has been previous said, one fire storm hits more times per cast than bladefall making it ideal for poison. Also, having a global poison, as in consuming dark, gives you poison on other sources, like poison corpse explosions.

since poison is based of your damage and it stacks, if bladefall and firestorm have same dps, the poison dps is the same. its only in attack based builds where you'd prefer poison to hit in smaller hits as opposed to one bigger one to limit accuracy variance

its good and if you can land the enchant its damage is quite excellent. problem is that at some point damage is overkill and you cant leech with mines plus you are nowhere as mobile and playing a clunky build (for most people who love speed clearing). so its reduced to boss kills but then...you can kill bosses fine with firestorm anyway so you kill both birds so to speak)
