[2.2] Hybrid Crit Sunder Varunastra 250k+ DPS (~2ex budget)

This will be a simple guide. If you guys like it I may improve and upload a Gorge run later.

Varunastra is a great weapon. It can be buffed by every kind of one-hand melee weapon effects.
In this build, we enjoy the following effects from skill trees and items:

3 Endurance Charges with whirling blades
5 Power Charges with whirling blades
5 Frenzy Charges with blood rage
Fortify with whirling blades
Chill effects with Arctic Armour
Infinite Vaal Haste effect
Enemies Ignited by overkill damage from Herald of Ash
Enemies Poisoned on Critical Strikes (10% of physical/chaos damage dealt)
Enemies Miam on Critical Strikes (30% reduced movement speed)
Onslaught on kill (20% increased attack and movement speed)
steal charges from enemies on Hit (if they have any, great in Zana maps)
Rampage (various effects, +1% movement speed per 10 enemies killed)
Unholy might for 3 seconds on Rampage (30% physical damage added as chaos damage)
Smoke cloud on Rampage (inflicts blind)
Headhunter effect with Inspired Learning (gain a mod from rare monster for 20 sec on kill)
Extra Gore (lol)

and thus it is called Hybrid.

Jewels

Taking Scion for a bunch of jewel nodes.
Jewels are much better than the skill tree itself.
And a jewel for Varunastra is way too easy to obtain.

You can choose from the following affixes:
Any kind of one-handed melee weapon Physical Damage;
Any kind of one-handed melee weapon Attack Speed;
Any kind of one-handed melee weapon Critical Strike Chance;
Any kind of one-handed melee weapon Critical Strike Multiplier;
Accuracy Rating;
Increased Area Damage;
Increased Maximum Life.

Inspired Learning is put in the jewel slot on the right of shadow starting point.
There is exactly 4 notables picked for it to work.

Ascendancy and Bandits

Take Assassin and Berserker for maximum damage.
+1% critical chance on Assassin is a must on buffing critical strike chance.
Berserker can be changed to others like Slayer or Champion for greater survivability.
I don't think this build actually need survivability as you almost kill everything within 1 second.

For bandits, go Oak, Kraityn, Alira.

Current Gear

Remarks

Sixth gem for main skill will be weapon elemental damage or added fire.
Link Vaal Haste with increased duration so that you can enjoy infinite Vaal Haste.
Going both Leap Slam and Whirling Blades helps you pass through different terrains.
Enfeeble, Blood Rage and Summon Ice Golem can link with Blood Magic so they can all be lv20 if you go self cast.

Going Hearld of Ash, Hatred, Arctic Armour perfectly reserves 100% mana.
Soul Taker is used so that mana is not an issue.
This is a lazy build so Soul Taker is essential.

Sunder only uses your main hand weapon. You want to hit enemies from a distance.
Going dual strike will give you 350k+ dps but you will die.
Swap away faster attacks with melee splash if you want to try dual strike.

Taste of Hate is not a necessary item. You can try a Sulphur Flask instead.
Shadows and Dust is not a necessary item. You can try Maligaro's Virtuosity or Facebreaker.
If Abyssus kills you, try a rare helm with hp or Rat's Nest.

220k dps will be achieved with all maximum charges and flask effects.
With headhunter effect it will be even higher.
Make sure you keep pressing flasks and Vaal Haste from time to time to maintain the dps.

A few stats

In town:

Chance to hit: 87%
Crit Chance: 31.26%
Crit Multiplier: 609%
Life Leech: 3.1%
Life: 4005
Armour: 1826
Evasion Rating: 2697
Chance to Block: 17%

They might seem low, but after you killed your first pack of monsters, you will be a monster.

Just remember: no reflect maps.
Right, just fire.

Nice build here, really enjoying it. A little bit weird to level before we get the soul taker at 59, but doable (around 6-7 hours for me to get 59).

When Varunastra is equipped, the build is a new thing :)

Cleaning T5-6 at lv 65.

Good job mate, see ya
@OP: How far did you take this build? Some videos would help answer questions.

I really like the theory offense wise but life seems low. It also doesn't have the block a gladiator build would have. How does it feel playing this?
@Deimoss I personnaly don't have troubles with defenses (actually 3k5 life at 73 and no problems in T7 maps for now). I'm on the way to get the crits nodes now, maybe take something to improve the life pool but maybe not needed. I'm using a Belly of the beast, and a rats nest.

For my first ascendancy class i choose the champion (duelist). I think it helps a lot with defenses, and i'm not using abyssus but rat's nest. The build seems to be balanced for now :)

Really enjoying it, and got a faster clear speed than my old CoC ST build. So... Why not ?
There is a chance you put video with mapping??
I'll try something similar to this on my scion.
Shadow path first or duelist path first?
Im gonna try this with bringer of rain with me luck
Any screenshots?
