Shockwave Totem and Powercharges

When using Shockwave Totem, are you able to gain Power charges on the character itself, or can only totems gain the charge? I have never tryed Totems, thats why I ask.

You don't get charges for the enemies killed by your totems (unless you have a passive node/item that says you do).
Every now and then you get a charge for an enemy killed by the DoT of a totem attack, but you'd have to make your shockwave totem do fire damage or have it apply poison.

Totems can't gain power or frenzy charges, but if you gain them your totems will benefit. Just be aware that because the totem is the source of the damage, a lot of the normal ways to get power charges don't work. Normally what totem players do is use Ice Spear - GMP - PCoC and spam it when they don't have anything else to do.

Added lightning damage can't apply a DoT, so it has no effect. Besides, it's only every now and then that such a DoT actually finishes off an enemy. So if you're looking for ways to generate charges, don't rely on totems.
It is said that 'on kill' effects are planned to work for kills made by totems and minions as well, but that is not the case yet at this moment.

Would be nice if that was in the new patch, but I guess its to early?
I would have loved to play shockwave totems and using powercharges, but wont do it if I have to keep using another skills to gain powercharges.
