Not credited with full-clearing corrupted area for Full Clear: Vaal Side Areas challenge

So I Vaal Orb'd a Pit map, it became Corrupted, and I went in and killed everything.

Screenshot of /debug and /remaining, showing 0 remaining monsters and the challenge incomplete.

My apologies if this is either known (looked, didn't see it), or if I'm just being dumb and didn't actually complete the challenge correctly.

A corrupted map is not a vaal side area. You need to put a sacrifice piece in the map device to create one. Without a map.

You're reading the achievement wrong.

Stick one of these into the map device:
OK, fair enough, but can I then recommend that the text is unclear? I realize that the title is "Vaal Side Areas," but the specific text for the challenge is "Fully clear each of the following Corrupted Side Areas," and then lists "Any created using a Map Device." I'm in a side area, that I fully cleared, and I have a message in the upper right saying "Area is corrupted" Until now, I didn't actually know there was a difference between "corrupted area" and "Vaal area," I thought they were two terms for the same thing.
A map is not a side area. By the time you make it to the eternal lab, you know what a Vaal side area looks like. It's small with a Vaal vessel at the end that gives you sacrifice pieces or vaal orbs.

"Side area" was definitely not defined for me at any point while playing. I know the things you're talking about, but the map device is new to me. The fact that things looked a bit different was unsurprising, since I was dealing with a new thing. And it said "corrupted" which was the term used by the challenge. I maintain that my confusion was quite reasonable and a result of unclear wording on the challenge's part, and that could be improved.

I mean, it's no big deal, I lost a Vaal Orb and however long it took me to submit this bug, but I think an improvement is possible.
