Arrow traveling distance
|
I think the traveling distance of an arrow is way too short. If i shoot an arrow by clicking on the top right of my screen, it doesnt even come close to that point.
Why is this? I feel like carrying a shotgun when using split arrow, instead of a bow. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

" I've only recently gotten into Beta. I'm currently playing the Ranger and using only the Bow. There are times when I feel like you do. I shoot my Bow without locking on a target and just about shoot myself in the foot. For example: If your in the forest, you can rest your cursor on a tree that is on the other side of the screen and fire a shot. The arrow will travel to the tree, even though the tree isn't something you can kill or destroy. If you run over to the tree, you can actually see the arrow sticking out of it. At the moment, I have two favorite Skills, Poison Arrow and Split Arrow. Poison Arrow: On dungeon maps, I can shoot a few Poison Arrows into the room and take out some of the monsters before they "see" me. This helps me to thin out the herd and keep from being mobbed when I finally enter the room. Split Arrow: I've found that you can control the spread of arrows by how close your cursor is to your character when you fire a volley. If you fire close to your character, the spread is wider. If you fire farther from your character, the spread is narrower and the arrows are more concentrated. Also note that if there are fewer monsters on the board than the number of arrows you can fire per volley, you may see less than the maximum number of arrows your Split Arrow is capable of firing. At least, that's been my experience so far. p Read My Links!: http://www.theamazonbasin.com/forums/index.php?/topic/121389-read-my-links/ Last edited by Perusoe#1533 on Dec 20, 2011, 9:55:31 AM

There is a known bug that makes arrows miss at a certain distance. I believe this may be addressed in 0.9.5.
It might also have something to do with limiting the range of projectiles to help prevent deaths from off-screen reflection auras. If you can hit something in the corner of you screen, you can easily hit something off-screen above or below you (and a little to the sides as well). Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus. First in the credits! Last edited by WhiteBoy#6717 on Dec 20, 2011, 1:03:55 PM

There is also a graphical problem with bows involving the arrows being reset if you fire a second time - You can only have one group of arrows visible, and if you create a new one, the first ones will be hidden. This is only visible with very high attack speeds.

" so the arrow still hits (assuming it wasnt evaded) but a graphical bug makes it look like the arrow stopped right? right before i lost my 59 bow ranger (sniff sniff) i had my split arrow when all charged up to about 4-4.5 per second and noticed all kinds of goofy arrow visuals...but i could see the hits registering on the mobs regardless if i actually saw the arrows fire. ~SotW HC Guild~

Yeah, it will still hit up to the maximum arrow distance, no matter what attack speed you have.

" Actually, this is not accurate. I tested this again tonight. With no monsters on the board, when I fired Split Arrow, a full volley was released. However, if you're surrounded by monsters attacking you in melee and you target one of them when you fire Split Arrow, the spread is so wide that graphically, some of the arrows overlap each other. This makes it look like less arrows are fired. p Read My Links!: http://www.theamazonbasin.com/forums/index.php?/topic/121389-read-my-links/

" ah, maybe that is the thing. I am a frenzy ranger with incredible high attack speeds. gonna test it now |

Just got back from experimenting this...
and no, it does not have to do with the arrow reset. I did see that also happens, but still, when i just fire 1 split arrow shot, to the top right corner of my screen, i just travels like halfway there. |
